In the last year, Asus has released a number of handsets to the market, some of which marked industry firsts, such as the Asus ZenFone 3 Deluxe which became the world's first Snapdragon 821-powered smartphone. Boasting a 5.7-inch screen, 6GB RAM, 64GB onboard storage, and a 23MP camera, the Deluxe also came with a hefty price tag of $729.
This time around, it appears that Asus is going for something a little more modest in the form of the ZenFone 4 Max. While the Max includes a slightly smaller 5.5-inch display, it will also come with up to 3GB of RAM, 16 or 32GB onboard storage, a microSD card slot accepting up to 256GB of additional storage, and dual-SIM capability. The handset will also be powered by Android 7.0 Nougat and either a Snapdragon 425 or 430 chipset, while also including a fingerprint sensor, headphone jack, micro-USB port, and an ample 5,000mAh battery.
On its website, Asus also makes mention of the 13MP dual-lens rear camera with LED flash capable of being used in a 52MP 'super-resolution mode' and the presence of electronic image stabilization (EIS) rather than OIS found in other handsets. The ZenFone 4 Max also includes an 8MP front-facing camera with its own LED flash for selfies.
While the phone is currently listed as 'not available' on the Russian Asus Store, the ZenFone 4 Max will cost Rs. 13,900 ($230) and come in a choice of black, gold, or pink.
