Games Done Quick, the twice-yearly charity event, is kicking off today at 11.30AM Eastern Time (16.30PM Greenwich Mean Time). Speedrunners from across the world will stream attempts at breaking records for various percentages of completion of popular games. The event will be live streamed on the Awesome Games Done Quick Twitch channel. Currently, the channel is rerunning last years event.
In total, 132 games will be streamed, the schedule of which can be found here. The list contains classics such as Sonic the Hedgehog 1, Donkey Kong Country, Serious Sam: The First Encounter and various Super Mario Bros. and The Legend of Zelda titles as well newer releases including Hollow Knight and Super Mario Odyssey.
The event is run twice a year and has been running for seven years now. In total it has raised $16.5 million dollars for several charities including Doctor Without Borders and the Prevent Cancer Foundation and is currently the largest fundraising event for both charities.
