Bing shows more monthly gains

Microsoft’s Bing search engine has once again seen its user percentages rise over the past month. Bing became the only search engine to see any major gains over the last month, with 13.1 percent of the market, which was up by around 1.1 percent on the previous months figures.

According to CNET, Bing still trails second placed search engine Yahoo who also saw a minor boost in visitors, even if it was by a very small 0.1 percent increase. This brings the Yahoo total to a 16.1 percent share of the market; Bing powers the Yahoo search engine however.

Google, however, still reins supreme over all of them, with a 65.6 percent share of the searches on the Internet over the past month, but once more this is a 1 percent decrease over the previous figures and shows that the ground Bing is gaining seems to be coming directly from Google users.

Microsoft still has a long way to go to catch up with their main rivals, especially when you consider that from the 17 billion searches made online in January, 11 billion of those were still done on Google’s search engine. It doesn’t look like it will be long before Bing overtakes Yahoo and with just a year on the market, it’s a very good showing.
