Essential updates camera with Facebook and YouTube 360-degree livestreaming

It was only a couple weeks ago that Essential issued an update for its camera that brought better image compression and added a portrait mode. Now, the firm has introduced a new update that will expand the capabilities of its 360-degree camera.

The Essential Camera app, which has been updated to build 0.1.091, will give the 360 Camera attachment the ability to livestream in 360-degrees using YouTube and Facebook Live. The update will also bring improved image stitching, stability, and the quality of JPEGs. In order to take advantage of these improvements, users will need to download the Essential Camera app from the Google Play Store and connect the 360 Camera so that it can accept the update.

The Essential PH-1 is now available from its website priced at $499 and can also be purchased in the United States from Amazon and Sprint. Those in Canada can purchase it from Telus. The 360 Camera is available as an added accessory and can be purchased separately for a retail price of $199.
