Facebook will launch official music videos in the U.S. this weekend

Facebook has announced that it is introducing official music videos to its platform, available in the U.S. starting this weekend. The announcement confirms a report from a few weeks ago saying that the social networking site was planning on adding licensed music videos to artists' Pages starting in August.

The social media titan has revealed the updates it made to artists' Pages to let you find and browse official music videos. As previously reported, Facebook will introduce the ability for admins of artists' Pages to enable a feature that will allow the service to add licensed music videos to their timeline, which will be visible to fans through the Videos tab.

In addition, there will be a new destination in Facebook Watch where you can find music videos by genre, artist or mood. There are themed playlists as well such as “Hip Hop MVPs", “Popular This Week”, and “New This Week.” The new social experience will be rolled out thanks to Facebook's tie-up with Sony Music Group, Universal Music Group, Warner Music Group, Merlin, BMG, Kobalt and other music organizations.

Facebook's new music destination in Watch will launch on desktop and mobile. It builds upon the company's work with partners in India and Thailand.
