Feature-packed update for Xbox One preview members starts rolling out

Xbox One September update for preview members has started rolling out with a number of new features.

We reported about the new features that were coming to the Xbox One, recently. Now, Microsoft has announced through the official Xbox News website, that the preview update with some of these features has started rolling out to Xbox One system testers. More so, some of the existing features will be made available in more countries as the Xbox One console is now becoming available in 29 new markets over the coming month.

The preview update features a new Friends section to track friends' activities and a Media Player app which would be able to play most audio and video files including animated GIFs and MKV from the web or USB storage devices.

Existing apps such as Party, SmartGlass and Settings will also be updated. Additionally, the preview includes support for the new Xbox One TV tuner accessory which will be available to consumers in Europe; Microsoft has also enabled the ability to boot to TV when coming out of standby. Users will now be able to track bandwidth under the network settings.

Preview testers will be notified about the availability of the update over the next few days.
