Gears of War is heading to smartphones next year

Yesterday, during EA's E3 conference, we learned that Command & Conquer is heading to smartphones this year. While the announcement wasn't exactly positively received, it appears that Microsoft is bringing its Gears of War franchise to the platform as well.

Gears POP! mashes Microsoft's popular franchise with toymaker Funko Pop’s collectible figures in a rather unique combination. Virtually nothing is known about the title just yet, and the 43-second trailer that was shown off at E3 offered no gameplay footage, so even the genre is unclear as of yet. Gears POP! is slated for a release on Android and iOS sometime next year.
