Intel Xe HPG (DG2) GPU now rumored to launch in March 2022

As we are approaching the launch of Intel's next-gen discrete graphics card, a lot of leaks and rumors have emerged online. A couple of weeks ago, we reported about an alleged leak that revealed the SKU names for the graphics card. Now, rumors suggest that Intel could launch the DG2 GPUs in March.

A report from IT Home (Chinese) citing anonymous sources suggests that the company is looking to launch the graphics card in March instead of January, as previously rumored. The delay should allow Intel to polish its drivers and make its Xe graphic card series a little more refined, right out of the gate.

The report also says that Intel will initially launch only two DG2 desktop graphic cards intended for gamers and not the most powerful ones.

The powerful chips that will come out later could feature up to 32 SKUs according to Intel's drivers. One of the two products that will come out initially will feature 512 EUs (execution units) and 16GB of GDDR6 memory that will offer similar performance as that of the GeForce RTX 3070/3070 Ti. The other one will come with 384 EUs and 12GB of DDR6 SGRAM with performance similar to the RTX 3060/3060 Ti.

The company is expected to shed some more light on the Intel Arc lineup during CES 2022.
