Microsoft introduces News Pro 2.0; adds a bot

Microsoft today updated the News Pro app on iOS to version 2.0, adding features such as groups and Rowe, your personal news agent. The app is designed to give you news for work.

It's been only about four months since Microsoft introduced its News Pro app for iOS, but the firm is already offering up version 2.0 - before ever releasing an Android or Windows app for it, in fact.

We do have a few new features in this update, although they don't appear to be live on the web app just yet, if they're coming at all. Here's what's new in News Pro for iOS version 2.0:

  • Introducing Groups. Come and share news and exchange your opinions with colleagues and friends in groups. It’s a popular place where people take a break.
  • Introducing personal news bot, Rowe. Rowe is your personal news agent and can keep up with interesting topics and stories with you all day long. Moreover, he is going to surprise you once you upload a selfie and share with him.
  • Support email sign in.

At this point, you're probably asking yourself what happens if you send Rowe a selfie. Of course, we had to find out.

After uploading a selfie, Rowe will tell you who you look like (personally, I don't see it). After that, you can type a response or select from suggested replies. It's a neat little feature for getting people familiar with how Rowe works.

News Pro 2.0 is available right now and you can get it from the iOS App Store right here.
