After multiple leaks and official mentions on products, Microsoft finally unveiled the Xbox Series S console late last night. While the higher-tier, Xbox Series X console’s specifications were discussed in detail, the mysterious lower-tier model was kept under wraps officially. Just after launch, the $299 console’s commercial trailer leaked, providing more details about the key features and details.
Now, Microsoft has gone ahead and posted the official trailer to YouTube, confirming the specs and the release date for the product. The console is slated to be made available for consumers on November 10, which is when the Series X is also expected to launch. The video is the same that was posted earlier today, so there is nothing new to report.
For those that missed it, the Series S, formerly known as Lockhart, is one of the two new next-generation consoles that the Redmond giant will be launching this holiday. For $299, the digital-only console will pack enough power to render games in Quad HD resolution at 120 frames a second, while also supporting DirectX Raytracing, variable rate shading and variable refresh rate. The console will sport a custom 512GB SSD that used the Xbox Velocity Architecture for faster load times.
Microsoft calls the Series S the smallest Xbox ever. The firm is reportedly planning on pushing Xbox All Access heavily and is also expected to launch the consoles in all regions where the Xbox One series is currently being sold. The more powerful, higher-tier Xbox Series X is expected to retail for $499.
