Misfit unveils Ray fitness and sleep tracker with sleek design, aluminum body

Wearable device specialist Misfit has announced the latest addition to its range - the 'Ray' fitness and sleep monitor, which it says is its "most versatile activity tracker yet".

Misfit says that the Ray's "highly customizable" aluminum body allows it to be worn with the company's own branded accessories, or other custom options, both on the wrist or around the neck. Its design is intended to complement other wristwear and jewelry, rather than standing out as an overt piece of wearable technology.

But the company emphasizes that the Ray strikes the balance between form and function, with plenty of tech crammed into its sleek form. It includes a 3-axis accelerometer, along with a vibration motor "for nuanced user feedback", similar to its Shine 2 wearable device.

Along with the LED notification light, the Ray provides text and call notifications, silent alarm functionality and 'inactivity nudges', prompting you to get up and get the blood flowing if you've been sitting around for too long.

The device is also compatible with Misfit Link which, in the company's own words, is its...

...groundbreaking software experience that turns your wearable into a remote to connect with the world around you. Communicate with friends, turn on your lights, change your music, take a selfie, and more, all with a few taps.

Like other Misfit wearable devices, the Ray's replaceable batteries last for up to six months, and the device itself is water resistant to a depth of 50 meters.

The Ray will be available in Rose Gold and Carbon Black options when it launches in Spring 2016 priced at $99.99, but you can pre-order the device now from misfit.com.
