As we’re getting close to E3, news has started leaking out about upcoming releases and new features heading to the current-gen consoles. First to bat was Microsoft’s leaked developer bundle, which also features a new controller. Now Sony’s turn has come and it looks like the company will launch a new version of the PlayStation 4 with a 1TB hard drive.
While opening up the PS4 and changing the HDD with a bigger unit was possible from the start, it looks like Sony also wants to cater to those who aren’t willing to go through so much trouble. A new version of the PlayStation 4 was spotted in some FCC documentation and its storage is listed at 1TB, which is double the current offering.
Interestingly enough there’s also a “regular” model available, though both seem to use less power and weigh less than the current version on the market. That might point towards a new “slim” version of the console, which has been rumored for a long time, but it might also mean that smaller improvements have simply made the new console a bit more efficient.
In either case we’ll probably learn a lot more on the 15th of this month, when Sony will be holding its keynote at E3 2015.
