Nforce2 boards finally for sale

BOARDS BASED ON Nvidia's long-awaited NForce2 chipset are slipping into retail outlets both in Europe and the US.

In the UK, scan.co.uk reported receiving stocks of Asus' A7N8X-Deluxe board this week, and is offering them for sale at and inclusive price of £133.95. Other dealers seem also to have receibed the Asus board, which seems to be the first commercial offering to tip up.

Scan also reported stocks of 2700+XP Athlons, beyond those destined for systems builders for testing purposes.

We also hears that US online retailer Newegg has stocks of both the Asus A7N8X DELUXE NForce2 mobo and the Athlon XP 2700+. Stocks of the Asus board are limited though it costs just $150 we note.

So shoppers today can either plumb for the Athlon 2700+ slipped into the Nforce2 board, or a 3.06GHz Pentium4, at around £575, inclusive -- though online retailers in the UK are still posting a long lead time on the chip Intel is to officially introduce today
