O2 is now pushing out Windows Phone 8.1 Update 1 for some Lumias

Good news for O2 customers this morning as the carrier has started to push out Windows Phone 8.1 Update 1, which brings Folders and UK Cortana support. Only some models are targeted for now.

It looks like there’s some good news for O2 customers this morning as the carrier has announced that it’s now pushing out the latest version of Windows Phone. Folks using the O2-branded Lumia 930 might want to check for updates right now.

The news comes via the carrier’s support forums where one of their reps said the launch would begin this week, possibly as soon as last night. As mentioned above, O2 is only targeting the Lumia 930 for now but if everything goes well other devices will soon follow.

We're fully expecting the GDR1 update for the Lumia 930 to go live this week - as early as this evening, no less. Please keep your eyes out for any notifications and if you're running an O2 branded 930 purchased from O2 direct, feel free to manually check for updates too.

Just in case your forgot, Windows Phone 8.1 Update 1, or simply "Update" as Microsoft is currently calling it, brings with it some cool new features including Folders, improvements to IE and official support for Cortana in the UK. Check out the full list of features here.
