OPPO first introduced its OPPO Watch to the Chinese market alongside the Find X2 Pro back in March, but last month it announced an international variant, too. The international model is slightly different, since it runs Google's Wear OS (previously Android Wear), instead of OPPO's custom platform, and it also has a more powerful Snapdragon Wear 3100 chipset.
While it runs Wear OS, OPPO did make some customizations to the software, which help Wear OS make use of the square screen. The quick actions panel has a tweaked design that accommodates more buttons, and the app drawer is also presented in a grid, so you can see more apps at the same time. Most Wear OS smartwatches tend to have the same interface, so the change of pace is interesting to see.
Of course, what you'll notice right away is how strikingly similar the OPPO Watch is to the Apple Watch, with the same kind of curved edges all around. I'm actually a big fan of the Apple Watch design, so I'm ok with a similar experience now being available for Android users. Check out our hands-on video below.
