OxygenOS 3.2.4 rolls out to OnePlus 3 to fix issues, ends up breaking a bunch of other stuff

OnePlus rolled out an OxygenOS update to its latest flagship phone, in an attempt to fix some issues on the device - but users have complained that the update has ended up doing more harm than good.

The changelog for OxygenOS 3.2.4 for the OnePlus 3 indicated that it would be a worthwhile update:

  • Fixed the auto-reboot issue
  • Improved call quality
  • Implemented various fixes and carrier optimizations

But since its release, users have noted that installing the update has led to a range of new problems, including:

  • Android Pay no longer works
  • Many users have complained that the device now struggles to retain 4G LTE signal, and quickly drops down to 3G and even 2G
  • Some have complained of increased battery drain (although others have remarked that their battery consumption appears to have improved)

These, and various other OxygenOS 3.2.4 issues reported by users, have been documented in a growing discussion on the company's support forums.

Additionally, users have complained that the update doesn't fix other lingering flaws on the OnePlus 3, such as problems with the front-facing camera's autofocus, malfunctioning auto-brightness, and broken notifications when using the 'Doze' feature. Some have also expressed frustration that they still haven't received the latest Android security patches on the device.

This is the second time in recent weeks that the company has released an update that caused problems for OnePlus 3 owners. Last month, it rolled out OxygenOS 3.2.0 to address complaints regarding the handset's RAM management and color calibration of its display. But that rollout was soon halted due to unspecified "issues while upgrading" among many users.
