PlayStation State of Play announced for tomorrow with Saros gameplay and more

Sony has just announced a games showcase event for this week. It will cover fresh games and announcements from both first-party studios and partners.

Sony is known to host multiple games showcase events, dubbed State of Plays, throughout the year, and September is now having two of them. Following the 007 First Light reveal State of Play from earlier this month, now Sony is coming back with a more open-ended broadcast, offering looks at multiple games. These will be from both internal Sony studios as well as partner developers releasing their games on the PlayStation platform.

The second State of Play of the month will be going live tomorrow, Wednesday, September 24, at 2pm PT / 5pm ET / 11pm CEST. Fans can catch the show across Sony's YouTube and Twitch channels live.

Sony confirmed that this State of Play will run for over 35 minutes filled with "reveals and news from developers around the world."

"We’ll share new looks at anticipated third-party and indie titles, plus updates from some of our teams at PlayStation Studios – including an extended look at Saros, Housemarque’s mysterious new title arriving next year," said the company in its announcement post on the PlayStation Blog today. "Look forward to nearly five minutes of gameplay captured on PS5."

For those unfamiliar, Saros is an upcoming action game being published by Sony. The PlayStation 5 exclusive title was announced during the February State of Play as a final surprise, bringing back the Returnal developer for a brand-new twist on the iconic time-looping gameplay.

"After Returnal we knew we had created something special and award-winning, but we also knew we wanted Returnal to stand on its own," said Housemarque Creative Director Gregory Louden earlier this year. "With this in mind, we decided to create a new IP which evolves our deep third-person action and mysterious storytelling."

This will be the first time that Saros gets a gameplay segment, which will show the single-player experience in action. The title is slated to launch sometime in 2026.
