'RAID: World War II' closed beta access given to all Payday 2 owners, pre-orders now open

Starbreeze Studios struck gold with Payday 2, and now it seems the publisher is trying to repeat the ordeal, but this time with a co-op game set in the Second World War.

Being developed by Lion Game Lion, 'RAID: World War II' has flown under the radar since its announcement back at E3 2016. But now, the publisher has opened up pre-orders on Steam and has made available a closed beta to anyone pre-ordering the game's special edition as well as to everyone who owns Payday 2.

Payday 2 owners can join the closed beta by going into the game's main menu and selecting the new RAID: World War II option, which will offer the opportunity to download and play the beta until September 17. Sadly, the beta is not available in Germany, with the store page noting that this is "due to censorship laws".

The game's description taken from its Steam store page makes it sound like a Payday-style game set in World War II, not that there is anything wrong with that:

RAID: World War II is an action-packed four player cooperative shooter set in Europe during World War II, where you and your friends aims to thwart the Nazi onslaught. Four prisoners of war – Sterling, Rivet, Kurgan and Wolfgang have been freed by “Mrs. White,” a secret British Intelligence Operative, who needs someone to take down Hitler and his Third Reich once and for all. Their objective is to fight the war - without rules or mercy. Their reward is all the Nazi gold they can carry.

The game currently carries a 10% discount as a pre-order incentive, and anyone who owns Payday 2 will receive a further 5% discount on the base game as well as an additional 15% reduction for the Special Edition. Along with quite a number of goodies, the Special Edition also arrives with a copy of the recently released PAYDAY 2: Ultimate Edition.

RAID: World War II is slated to launch on September 26 for PC, October 10 for PlayStation 4, and finally, October 13 for Xbox One. Moreover, an open beta for the game will be available in the coming weekend starting September 2, although exact times have not been announced yet.
