RIM shows off BlackBerry OS 6.0 with video preview

Today at RIM's WES conference in Orlando, FL, the company unveiled the next update to the BlackBerry operating system. The new OS seems to be primarily touch based, but that shouldn't stop it from being usable on the same types of devices that RIM currently has on the market. However, the extra emphasis on touch based gestures could be a sign that RIM plans to release more phones with touch enabled screens.

In the video below, RIM shows off the new interface and what it offers to each type of user. The new platform, while completely redesigned, still keeps the look and feel of the BlackBerry OS. For people who love their current BlackBerry devices, this seems to be a good way to keep the platform familiar, yet new.

The OS contains many new features. A bunch of them were listed by our previous coverage of the BGR exclusive hands-on about a week ago. From the looks of it, RIM seems to be taking the competition seriously. To see the changes present in the new OS, check out the video below.
