Some Google Pixel devices can't install the latest security patch

Many Google Pixel owners are reporting issues regarding the installation of recently released July 2017 Android security patch. Google is investigating the problem but no fix has been released yet.

Google has just released its latest monthly Android security update for Pixel and Nexus phones. The update is causing an unusual installation issue on some Pixel devices.

Owners of Google Pixel are reporting an error while trying to update their devices through OTA update. After downloading the update, an error message appears on the device saying "Couldn't update - Installation problem" with no further details. The issue is being discussed on Reddit and Google Product Forum.

Google, being aware of the issue, has stated that it's looking into the matter, but no fix has been released yet. Furthermore, the problem seems to be only on the 5-inch variant of Pixel, while Pixel XL and Nexus devices remain unaffected.

This handset has experienced issues in the past but this error is a minor one as compared to the previous ones. The installation error may seem to annoy some users but it doesn't harm the device. Let us know in comments if you are experiencing the same issue as well.
