Post Your Workstation Photos

Very nice setup you got there...it looks better now that you have cleaned up all the wires. One thing tho...why did you remove the panel of your case? Does it get too hot or something? You should tidy up your wires with zip ties or split looms. You should either buy rounded cables (silver ones) or round them your self by slicing the IDE & floppy cables. Putting a window on your case panel would make it look complete after you do all that.. :D

No its not that hot in my case its about 33C mainboard // 45C CPU at full load

idling it runs at about 27C mobo/ 40C CPU

I thought I would post new pix and present my work station the right way

As for the last pic... Well, Jak wanted to in on the act too, so I thought I just go with it. Dogs just wanna have fun!

:D

EDIT: Fixed a crapped up pic and a broken link. Jeez!

Well, I couldn't just leave well enough alone. I decided to open my case and do some dusting. These are pix of the interior of my machine before I got started with the cleaning. I do build some clean comps if I do say so myself.

:woot:

Of course, I don't know how to keep them dust free, other than by using a can of air every now and then.

If someone would like a challege, there is a computer part that is on the front of my monitor. ?Can anyone tell me what it is and what kind of that item is it? ?I'll giv you a hint, AMD made it.

k6 cpu:D:D

Good...Now can you tell me what speed it is?? :p:p Thats the challenge.

LoL !!:woot:t:

My father and used to play this game all the time, except with cars. He'd have me listen to a sound of a passing car and then identify it. (he wanted to know if I could ID a car by sound alone) In 3 years of doing this, I was almost never wrong. Then he saw that Chevy commercial and borrowed a line: He started asking "what color!?"

:p:p

this will help with your dust problem

Cool! Thanks! :)

The link doesn't return a valid search result, but looking over the site I was able to find some fan filters and place an order.

Thanks man. ;)

How do the fan filters work?  I have a cheiftec case with fan holders.  Will I be able to use the fan filters with my fans??

http://www.frozencpu.com/cgi-bin/frozencpu/ffi-03.html

i got the antec case, and i have no problems hooking those up, but i would get these i know they cost a bit more, but i had the plastic ones before, and the Anodized Fan Filters are 10 times better.

I'll post one when I get all my new equipment next month. ;)

After seen your next computer upgrade in your sig, I'd like to see your beast PC in pictures. You seem to have lots of money and enthuasism in keeping latest computer specs ;)

JEBUS Zolk - thats gonna be a BEAST.

    • Close, but it is for any application starting, not just during boot time. In fact, it probably will not improve boot time at all because during a boot, the CPU is already boosting, so a pre-boost wouldn't change anything. I agree that it isn't exciting (especially considering every other OS already does it), but it is a good thing, even if they are just playing catch up.
    • Any so called performance increase will be in milliseconds, which nobody will actually notice in real world usage.
    • All it does is use the CPU more efficiently during boot to speed up boot times. That's it. Yawn....
    • It's not a one or the other kind of thing. Software should run efficiently, and the operating system should appropriately manage the CPU clocks. You could have the best most optimized software on earth, and it will still run faster if the CPU does a better job of boosting as needed. All this is doing is pre-boosting the CPU based on user actions, instead of waiting for the normal detection mechanism to kick in. If the OS knows it is about to need more CPU, why shouldn't it use that knowledge? It's the same idea of downshifting before passing someone, instead of just burying your foot into the peddle and waiting for the transmission to figure out what you want to do.
