We could really use some screenshots of some of the builds on any of the worlds. Anyone up for the task?

I did do a load but then looking back at them, the HUD look a bit too much.

So then i read F1 removes the HUD, so i will redo them. They are going to be 1.5MB each. I might have to convert them to jpg, that should make them smaller.

The Minecraft Redstone Update is coming on Wednesday, March 13

The change log is as follows?

  • Added Redstone Comparator (used in Redstone logic)
  • Added Hopper (collects items and moves them to containers)
  • Added Dropper (similar to Dispensers, but always drops the item)
  • Added Activator Rail (activates TNT Minecarts)
  • Added Daylight Sensor
  • Added Trapped Chest
  • Added Weighed Pressure Plate
  • Added Block of Redstone
  • Added Nether Brick (item)
  • Added Nether Quartz and ore
  • Added Block of Quartz, with half blocks and chiseled variants
  • New command: /scoreboard
  • New command: /effect
  • Containers and mobs can have custom names
  • Inventory management has been changed, for example you can drag-place items over slots
  • Texture packs now have separate images for each block and item, and can have animations
  • Nether Quartz Ore now spawns in the Nether
  • Smooth lighting now has three settings (none, minimal, maximum)
  • More detailed death messages
  • Some hostile mobs now are harder in Hard difficulty
  • Many, many, bug fixes
  • Removed Herobrine

Someone go to the end (ender trap) and knock a few blocks out of that area where its flooding now. Don't knock a hole in the floor though.

I'm being kicked constantly for flying (or retarded

I guess it should've stayed hidden :p

^ which means waiting with the client update until the server and all plugins are updated. Wait for Timan to tell you it's safe to update to 1.5.

Any idea for an ETA after release or? Havent played MC before this, usually it takes days? weeks? months? centuries?

Yes it does seem to be down. Usually it comes back in 10-15 minutes.

Is it just me or does the backup go on forever and while it is working it lags the server and prone to crashing.

Yesterday i got kicked twice when the backup started and the server was unreachable for about 20 minutes.

Yeah, sometimes the backup handler breaks things; I had a similar issue on my old Server, thankfully I had the interval set to once every 24 hours. But I understand why Neowin needs to backup often.

Is it a timed interval?

It has always felt random to me. Like when a certain amount of blocks are removed/placed it starts a backup.

Always seems to do it at the worst possible time for me either way.

Yeah it was every 10-15min or so before, Timan already slowed it down to once every 30min or so. But even on crashes back when i login i'm where i was (or very close) and not at places when the backup was taken :/ But I have noticed little lag during backups since the resource expansion :)

Working on it

Cool.

While your around, any ETA for 1.5?

Oh and if you get to it, please spawn 2 or 3 ender dragons :D

Oh and it was yesterday i think when anad and bsarmir where online (maybe during the night or evening before) when the map already started having issues, failed to load entirely on IE, and it basically crashed when i tried to zoom in or move around the map. Turned into a black screen.

Maybe somewhat usefull, maybe not :)

Cool.

While your around, any ETA for 1.5?

the eta for 1.5 will depend on when bukkit can get a stable 1.5 server out (or beta depending) and if any plugins being used break with said update

so I'd guess 3 weeks to a month and a half after 1.5 goes final till the neowin server can update

Great I updated mine to 1.5 by accident and now cannot get onto the server.. anything I can do?

Replace the existing minecraft jar with this one from minecraft.net site :)

    • Unsurprisingly, there's what the law says and what the old white wealthy males legally enforce...
    • Or anything online that requires an anti-cheat
    • Gf needed a new Surface and was looking at a Surface Laptop because of the Snapdragon. Seeing as it was a two year old chip she just decided to get a Lenovo Yoga 2 in 1 instead. Personally this Surface Ultra Cassis reminds me a bit of Razor. It would be interesting if it could handle proper gaming and be 17 inch.
    • No idea, frankly, I'm not into minimum requirements gaming, but it would be an interesting test to find out. Also, I just have to point out that it wasn't my intention to downplay the performance of DXVK on Linux or Linux gaming in general (despite my own experience being a bit of a mixed bag). I just thought it would be good to point out that DXVK is not Linux exclusive and that you can benefit from using it even in Windows.
    • Fastfetch 2.64 released bringing new logos and other improvements by David Uzondu Fastfetch, the popular command-line system information tool that developers created as a fast alternative to the classic Neofetch utility, has updated its codebase to version 2.64, bringing experimental scripting power, streamlined compilation options, a smarter logo renderer, and Codec module support. As noted earlier, Fastfetch can now detect hardware-accelerated video codecs across Windows, macOS, Linux, and Android through this new Codec module. On Linux and BSD, the utility uses VA-API by default, with a fallback to VDPAU on Nvidia hardware if compiled with libva and libvdpau. Windows users get D3D12VA on Windows 11 or D3D11VA with Media Foundation Transforms on older systems, while macOS relies on VideoToolbox and Android utilizes AMediaCodec. You can manually toggle Vulkan Video via the config file, and the program will report both encoders and decoders unless configured otherwise. Logo support for Quasar, Origami, Origami_small, NixOS2, and BerserkArch also landed in this release. BerserkArch, if you have never heard of it, is a specialized Arch Linux derivative that targets security researchers and power users. This distro comes with an offensive security tool manager, simply called berserk, which allows users to install complex hacking toolkits with single terminal commands. Moving on, Fastfetch now has experimental scripting options for custom formats using Lua or QuickJS. The Lua integration supports versions 5.3 through 5.5, sharing a single interpreter instance across all modules so you can store variables globally. T Alternatively, if you prefer JavaScript, you can use QuickJS-ng version 0.15.0 or newer to evaluate your custom formats with the qjs: prefix. Other changes that version 2.64 brings include native CMake compilation flags to disable specific modules to shrink the final binary size. Users can delete unwanted ASCII logo files directly from the source directory before building to save additional space. The format engine now boasts ANSI-escape awareness, meaning you can center text with the new vertical bar specifier without breaking colored outputs. Haiku users receive preliminary support for boot manager, window manager theme, screen brightness, and other basic properties. Finally, the Linux edition now extracts desktop wallpaper and theme details from the modern COSMIC desktop environment.
