I messaged the main admins but no response. It was up this morning after an apparent crash but stopped responding. I can't get to the virtual host to check it anymore.  I guess we are waiting on the main guys for now.  :(

The only one with access to the Azure console is Timan, who'll be travelling to the UK starting today... let's hope I can get ahold of him on Twitter or IRC before he takes off.

Guys, if we're going to allow Creative on this server and huge phalluses then I don't think I'll be able to continue playing here.  My understanding is that Neocraft was a survival server. If this has officially changed, then please post here stating such.

First of all: If people who I've known for years ask for creative, I have no qualms giving them creative. It's as simple as that. Does it stop others from sticking to survival? No.

Secondly, what I do have a problem with is: Finding the server shut down, and upon restart seeing how beacons and other objects have been removed. I consider that griefing.

We've always tried to maintain a live and let live policy when it comes to the server. Most of us do try to stick to the decided method of the current incarnation, be it survival or otherwise. What was done today, was griefing and you cannot know how those people obtained the materials that were destroyed or taken today regardless. This server has been on survival for a long time, people have diamonds on TAP at this point.

Additionally as all individuals related to Neowin are at least 15 years of age (COPPA not withstanding), I would expect that content on the server is going to at least be m15+. It's unfortunate that you feel that way, but it's understandable if you include your little ones with you during play; this probably isn't the server for them at this time.

At this point, cooler heads should prevail and maybe ask questions before rash actions.

I've been on survival ever since the server started (On 1.8 that is).  Yeah i can understand where forjo is coming from but it really doesnt bother me if others are in creative,  Personally i am having more fun in survival and redesigning my base again :)

Mind if anyone has a few blocks of emeralds for my beacon i wont say no :)

If people object to anything happening on the server it's far more mature to actually *talk* to the people involved and ask them to remove it/whatever needs to be done to fix it. Throwing a tantrum and griefing is not an appropriate response.

The point of the game is having fun, which is what we did. Has anyone promised that it's especially child friendly?

As far as having creative goes it was always common to this server and in previous incarnations we had a bunch of extra plug ins. I understand they're a pain to maintain but why get upset over some people having creative? It makes little difference to how those in survival play and we could certainly agree some ground rules (i.e. keep builds away from spawn) if that would help maintain the general flavour for survival players. Shutting the server down over it is ridiculous.

When I was made an op I was told no creative. When I saw other ops using creative I asked again and was told it was OK for ops to streamline their progression. When I saw non-ops using Creative to build a giant penis with semen on the ground within view of spawn I asked again, waited several hours and got no response, so I removed the things that I witnessed being made in Creative.  Now I'm told that anyone can have creative. My head remained "cool" the entire time.

And for the record, I had nothing to do with the server shutdown. It restarted on it's own yesterday to install Windows Updates. After it came back I started the Minecraft server. It was up when I went to bed last night.

I'll just say thanks for having me on the server. I'll be moving on. I wish you all well.

Yikes!

Is there no way of us to have like we used to have? i.e spawn was in a "neutral" map & you could go left or right if you wanted survival/creative. That enabled the best of both worlds.

Survival is more rewarding & imo stops the game from getting boring... but some builds (i.e my beacon paradise!) are almost impossible to build if not in creative.

FYI I refuse to play in survival because it's not fun for me. I'd rather just build things. This is why I quit for months then come back and obsess. :3

And for future reference, if anyone is really that intrigued or ###### off or whatever by what I'm building, just come talk to me. I don't bite. (much)

    • The current Statcoungter desktop numbers has Google Chrome increasing it's market share this past year and currently commanding 75% share. Everybody else is just making up the numbers with even MS Edge losing 3% this past year and has dipped just below 10% share which is staggering considering it's default on every Windows deviced purchased. If these numbers are correct that terrible Edge number is both devastating and embarrassing for MS especially when you add in the terribly low Bing market share. This leads me to ask a couple of questions as the default browser holding just less than 10% market share seems really weird. It used to be that all Chromium browsers were being counted as Google Chrome in some cases.  Is this still happening? Do these high Google Chrome numbers contains some Edge user numbers?
    • Yeah, all web browsers seem to have some junk in them these days. The regular Brave browser has a lot of unnecessary stuff in it, similar to Microsoft Edge, so I don't see any benefits of using Brave over Microsoft Edge if you already have Microsoft Edge fully set up with adblockers and that. The cleanest or best free browser outside of 'Microsoft Edge' I’ve tried so far is 'Opera Air'. It still has some bloat, but nowhere near as much as Brave browser, for example. I also really like the web browser called 'Floorp' that is based on Firefox. I have a system wide Adblocking program for Windows 11 that doesn't just blocks ads in the the web browser, but over the whole thing. I don't really need a web browser with an inbuilt adblocker because of that.
