Question for you all that frequent the server

When the Nether update comes out and we get our Paper server switched to it would we want to reset the Nether so all the new blocks and environments are easily accessible or does anyone have builds in there they dearly care about?

edit: just realized the update actually came out today lol; but the question still stands. It'll probably be a few days or so before Paper updates to support the new version anyway so there's time to discuss 🙂

ISTR that the new version of Minecraft supports dimensions in that you can extra on top of the usual overworld, nether and end dimensions. It might be worth seeing if you can add the existing nether under a different name if there's bits in there that people really care about.

I've never known Minecraft to natively support extra dimensions outside of using a plugin or mod and haven't heard anything that it was being added natively but I will look into it if people wish 🙂

Not sure if the custom portals are part of this update.  They have been working on them, but last i saw they were a w.i.p. and only generated worlds based of generation files. 🤔

TBH, i dont think there is many things in the nether that as been built, only structure ive seen s Lous pillar of fences in diffrent colours, aprt from that seen nothing else, myself and jessicajm have nothing in neither so yeah a reset will be fine :)

Thanks guys; I'll still take a backup of the Nether folder in case anyone ever wants it restored or wants a copy but once I'm able to upgrade the server I'll go ahead and reset it. It's a rather substantial change to the Nether so I definitely think it's worth the reset to the dimension.

For what it's worth, I had a play with custom dimensions for vanilla Minecraft using the generator at https://misode.github.io/worldgen/ and I was able to generate two nether dimensions in the same game. The problem I had though was that they both used the global seed so it would've caused issues with new chunks anyway.

Hey guys, I checked last night before bed and 1.16.1 builds are rolling in now for Paper so I'll be updating the server tonight when I get off work.

I haven't checked if any of our plugins have been updated yet or will even need an update so some of them may or may not work out of the gate.

@Brandon H I'm able to log in, looks like i triggered windows update so in 10 mins the server will restart and hopefully you can access it after the updates :)

yep it's letting me connect now. not sure what was up earlier.

Server is updated now and Nether reset. I'll see if any plugins need updated tomorrow.

Let us know if there are any issues with the server folks :)

I popped on the server last night, and had a wonder around the Nether. All seems OK, and I managed to upgrade a few bits of Diamond armour too. :D Might have to set up a Nether base now and strip mine the Nether. 😮

Can we please disable the plugin that deletes items on the ground? I lost all my stuff because I died and all my items were all over the ground (apparently keep inventory doesn't work in the nether) and by the time I got back to where I died, less than a minute, the plugin had deleted all my items. Given that we have very few people online at any one time, I don't believe that items on the ground are causing any appreciable lag. It would also be great if we could work out why keep inventory isn't working in the nether. I've now lost 3 elytra there.

It looks like someone went overboard with the amount of plugins on the server. I'm going to have a look when I get home later today.

hello

that plugin was adjusted a long time ago to not remove needed items and for the timer to only be like every 40 minutes and I have not heard any complaints since.

If the clearlagg plugin is really not liked then it can be disabled and I can do that tonight.

yeah, I remember when we made the changes to stop it deleting things like boats, but it deleted all my armour, elytra tools and other stuff I had on me at the time. Honestly I think I was just really unlucky to have died and dropped all my items on top of the nether ceiling 20 seconds before it ran, but I'm not sure how much value it adds given that I only usually see one other person on when I'm on.

LibreWolf is designed to increase protection against tracking and fingerprinting techniques, while also including a few security improvements. This is achieved through our privacy and security oriented settings and patches. LibreWolf also aims to remove all the telemetry, data collection and annoyances, as well as disabling anti-freedom features like DRM. LibreWolf features: Latest Firefox — LibreWolf is compiled directly from the latest build of Firefox Stable. You will have the the latest features, and security updates. Independent Build — LibreWolf uses a build independent of Firefox and has its own settings, profile folder and installation path. As a result, it can be installed alongside Firefox or any other browser. No phoning home — Embedded server links and other calling home functions are removed. In other words, minimal background connections by default. User settings updates Extensions firewall: limit internet access for extensions. Multi-platform (Windows/Linux/Mac/and soon Android) Community-Driven Dark theme (classic and advanced) LibreWolf privacy features: Delete cookies and website data on close. Include only privacy respecting search engines like DuckDuckGo and Searx. Include uBlockOrigin with custom default filter lists, and Tracking Protection in strict mode, to block trackers and ads. Strip tracking elements from URLs, both natively and through uBO. Enable dFPI, also known as Total Cookie Protection. Enable RFP which is part of the Tor Uplift project. RFP is considered the best in class anti-fingerprinting solution, and its goal is to make users look the same and cover as many metrics as possible, in an effort to block fingerprinting techniques. Always display user language as en-US to websites, in order to protect the language used in the browser and in the OS. Disable WebGL, as it is a strong fingerprinting vector. Prevent access to the location services of the OS, and use Mozilla's location API instead of Google's API. Limit ICE candidates generation to a single interface when sharing video or audio during a videoconference. Force DNS and WebRTC inside the proxy, when one is being used. Trim cross-origin referrers, so that they don't include the full URI. Disable link prefetching and speculative connections. Disable disk cache and clear temporary files on close. Disable form autofill. Disable search and form history...and more. • Gf needed a new Surface and was looking at a Surface Laptop because of the Snapdragon. Seeing as it was a two year old chip she just decided to get a Lenovo Yoga 2 in 1 instead. Personally this Surface Ultra Cassis reminds me a bit of Razor. It would be interesting if it could handle proper gaming and be 17 inch.
    • No idea, frankly, I'm not into minimum requirements gaming, but it would be an interesting test to find out. Also, I just have to point out that it wasn't my intention to downplay the performance of DXVK on Linux or Linux gaming in general (despite my own experience being a bit of a mixed bag). I just thought it would be good to point out that DXVK is not Linux exclusive and that you can benefit from using it even in Windows.
