I've unlocked all weapons and gadgets with the exception of the two new drone gadgets. I'll try to unlock them when I come home but I haven't been able to kill anyone as a jet pilot. The airspace is too small for me to handle and still be able to shoot down anything.

Random crashes and silent quitting of the game is really annoying.

Slow down when turning to make sharp turns in small air spaces, but can be caught out if there is a pilot coming for you, but yeah, Air Space is too small, especially on Dawn Breaker.

LOC, was about to suggest you uninstall and reinstall it, as you don't lose stats, which are saved on their servers. But seems its ok for you now. Overall BF4 runs alright, I think the worst is over with the problems we had with it.

has the mantle patch landed yet? tbh i cant expect much from it considering the state of the game, itll be like minimal increases.... thank EA another game you screw up whilst piling out the dlc. If Dice wasnt owned by EA i think theyd of held off from sale till january cus they know damn well it wasnt ready to be released. EA worst thing to happen to gaming in a long time

It was supposed to be released at the end of this month, but wouldn't surprise me if it got delayed. I'll reserve judgement for the mantle patch itself until it comes out and I try it.

Got this game for christmas on PS4.  I have only played the campaign (only a few missions in).  I haven't noticed much Frame Drop though it has happened (Actually seems to happen more in knack).  The graphics are awesome, much brighter than Killzone that's for sure.  Haven't played online yet, though I will probably wait till I complete the campaign.

i think BF4 is the first battlefield where i knew roughly what i am supposed to be doing and is generally fun to play. Every year i get the latest version and am disappointed as i always seem to get into matches where everyone is advanced meaning i get slaughtered, it's nice to get into games and have some fun.

Other bonus is the amount of players on the Xbox1 version, definitely a step up (my PC is not powerful enough to play BF3/4) so I've always relied on the console versions.

had a blast on conquest and the one where you have to set the bombs/arm the bombs.

Good to hear you are enjoying it :) When a match is competitive and you have good squad/teammates, Battlefield is just so damn good. I'm fortunate enough to have been playing since BF1942 days and the general feeling I had then still holds now. I rarely delve into a lot of multiplayer games but Unreal Tournament and Battlefield have just given me insane amounts of fun experiences. I really hope DICE can get things sorted out - this franchise is too good and too important to have it go down in EA purgatory.

Deff feeling a lot more stable after the latest patch, having some really goond fun now, gonna try changing that network smoothing this weekend see what that does.

Just need a new GPU to get it running on anything other than low now, and an SSD for some nice fast loading.   :)

Still a mess on X1

Matchmaking / quick match hardly works and even when it does, the server is a lag fest. Lucky if you ever see the end of a match.

Well I end every match I play on XB1 (with the occasional crash, but that's after 10+ matches). I do agree that it is ridiculous to see only 4 or 5 servers (Conquest in my preferred case) each with 20 - 40 in queue; certainly enough players to fill a new 2 or 3 servers of 64.

I havent been able to play BF for nearly a week now. I have to admit I didn't try last night but the previous 3 or 4 nights was the same thing over and over. I did contact XB and EA support, XB pointed me at EA and EA said "they are aware of the issue and are investigating".

The game has been pretty unstable since release but now it's just unplayable, I don't want to touch campaign because everytime I do the save is lost and I can't get into a single MP match. If this was any other product I would have probably demanded my money back by now. Instead I will continue to pray they eventually fix it because I WAS having a lot of fun.

If you really want to get a refund, you should use this. It's taken much more seriously than just asking XBox Support.

And I agree, when BF4 works it is a lot of fun. Sadly, those times are far out weighed by the issues.

I haven't been able to play for a couple of weeks now due to the "black screen of death" and it's really pissing me off now. I have to hard reboot everytime so, I haven't even tried in days as it is. Stupid game.

Out of curiosity, what platform are you on?

Every time I think I've bought the most bug ridden game, I remind myself that I ****ed away good money on Modern Warfare 2 for PC and I suddenly like the game in question again.

As for not regenerating health, what are the chances you're on a Hardcore server? IMO, they aren't as clearly labeled as they were in BF3. Maybe it's me though.

It is not labeled with text. They display icons for that information which sucks. I do not know what the icons mean and there is no documentation. For example there is an icon for china rising expansion back. At first I was like, WTF does that mean. Hovering the mouse tells you. However, I don't think there are tool tips for the hardcore icon. Most servers say in the title if they are hardcore. I am not sure about XOne. I am talking about the web page for PC.

Id play it a lot more if I had a group of people to play with that actually wanted to play as a squad/team. it's so annoying having the squad spread all over the map, not following order, not issuing order not caring about anything at all except their own k/d which isn't what BF is about and a score that should be removed from the score screen.

I agree. I play in a squad and well too. I love the game play when I have a good squad. When I come across good players that work as a team I friend them. Now I can almost always have someone playing, who is a good player. I can't remember if my player name is BillyJack or BillyJackMan. Add me and you have someone to play.

My main point is though that a real world soldier have so much more awareness that doesn't exist in a virtual game world.

I agree about having more things that make awareness better but since I have never been in real combat I wouldn't know what it really is like. I can only make assumptions although I am pretty sure they are realistic. Even if they improve the realness of the game it may never change the game to be more real like because of the way other people in the game play. For example, some people do not give a ###### that they die. They run around like Rambo. In real world no one would do that. Everyone would be careful and try to do real tactics. Until you improve the way people play or so that they play like it is real the realness does not exist. Personally, I try my hardest not to die and play like it is real combat but sometimes I have to play and not care otherwise I am not playing. I have to adjust differently every game depending on the way others are playing. Unfortunately they are running around like mad men with no goal.

Quick match works pretty well for me, but the server browser is beyond horrible. Whenever I try to join a game it never works -- makes playing the DLC I paid $50 for almost worthless, since I never find matches for them in matchmaking.

At first it worked for me too, but now I just get "server didn't respond" messages. Then at the end of last week the server browser wasn't working either. Didn't matter if there was a queue or not, I was placed in one and made to wait ages. Sometimes kicking me out of the queue for no reason at all. In the end the only way I could join matches was from Battlelog

The lack of urgency to fix it is what ****** me off the most though.

    • Waymo recalls self-driving software after cars enter closed freeway work zones by Paul Hill Waymo, the self-driving car maker owned by Alphabet – the parent company of Google –, has recalled some of its fifth-generation Automated Driving Systems (ADS). It did so after some of its cars drove through closed construction zones. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the affected vehicles were capable of driving through a closed freeway construction zone and continuing to drive at speed. The listing on the NHTSA website says that Waymo is currently developing a solution to fix this issue, but in the meantime, freeway driving is being restricted. Waymo will update its ADS software so that vehicles can detect when they can avoid entering construction zones. According to the Safety Recall Report, on April 20, 2026, Waymo’s Field Safety Committee began meetings reviewing an event from April 11, 2026, and five events from April 19, 2026, where Waymo’s autonomous vehicles didn’t recognize and drove past ramp closure signs into the pre-planned freeway construction zones. This took place in Phoenix, Arizona. Separately, on May 18, 2026, seven Waymo vehicles entered freeway lanes with active construction in the San Francisco Bay Area by driving between cones that were placed to show the lane was closed. On the back of both of these events, Waymo restricted freeway driving until it could address the issue. In June, Waymo’s Safety Board reviewed the issue and additional information related to ADS performances around construction zones; then, as a result, it decided to conduct a recall. This development is not good for Waymo as it adds to a growing list of technical hiccups its cars have experienced. Ultimately, it will lead to more scrutiny from lawmakers around the world who will be more cautious about letting autonomous vehicles on their roads without tighter regulation. For readers in areas where Waymo operates, does this news make you more wary about stepping into one of these vehicles?
    • I'm still on Windows 10 22H2 because I didn't want to deal with all the issues in Windows 11, so I waited almost a week before installing the latest Patch Tuesday update (KB5094127), I went ahead and did it, and it was a huge mistake—ever since then, my File Explorer has seen a performance drop of about 30% when transferring large files... Once again, Microsoft has outdone itself! This update cannot be uninstalled, either through the Control Panel (via Settings) or by accessing Advanced Startup Options. The only possible alternative would be to use system restore points, but I’d have to reinstall all app and driver updates (and there’s no guarantee it would work). Or there’s the “nuclear option” of a in-place repair without losing files or apps, but even then, all my customizations would be lost! Microsoft just can’t help but mess everything up! Way to go, Microsoft! But I still don’t want your c****y Windows 11!
    • Microsoft: Windows 11 could finally solve a major issue across AMD, Nvidia, and Intel GPUs by Sayan Sen While Microsoft has been trying to improve it, Windows 11 is definitely not flawless, as even today some issues are taking a year to publicly acknowledge. However, one area of trouble that may finally see much better results soon is graphics driver crashes. Work on graphics driver timeouts, also called Timeout and Detection Recovery (TDR), is not new as the latest WDDM 3.2 also has specific improvements regarding it. Windows Display Driver Model (WDDM) version 3.2 is supported on Windows 11 24H2 and 25H2. However, with the upcoming version 26H2, TDR crash diagnosis could go to the next level as Microsoft is introducing a new DirectX 12 API feature called "DirectX Dump Files". Similar to how system memory dump files work when a system crashes or freezes or encounters any such major issue, DirectX Dump Files (DDF) will essentially record a snapshot of the GPU execution right at the moment a graphics-related crash or hang or freeze occurs, so that developers can better understand and diagnoze these TDR and timeout detection errors. The dump will be available as a .dxdmp file for analysis and it will be a comprehensive dump file generated with detailed insights about the hardware, drivers, Windows, as well as the affected application. This should be another welcome change in this department. Earlier at GDC 2026, when the technology was first debuted, Microsoft had shared more details regarding it. The company had explained how DDF is designed to gather data from every layer of the graphics stack into a single file, eliminating the need for developers to manually correlate logs from multiple tools. As mentioned above, the dump can contain a lot of useful details like GPU hardware state information such as register values, shader program counters, page fault virtual addresses, shader memory data, and command buffers. Alongside that, it also captures DirectX runtime and kernel information, including D3D objects, pipeline state objects, device error data, adapter details, and CPU call stacks. Microsoft says the feature has been built around two primary use cases: retail device removals and local device removals. The former allows developers to collect crash information from end users' systems in the field, while the latter helps QA teams and developers investigate issues on test machines. Developers will also be able to include up to 2 MB of custom application data through new D3D12 APIs, providing additional context for troubleshooting. In addition, Microsoft is introducing three dump collection modes ranging from zero-overhead capture, which has no runtime performance impact on supported hardware, to higher-detail modes that collect more vendor-specific debugging data. On compatible Tier 2 hardware, zero-overhead dumps will be enabled by default, meaning developers may begin receiving useful crash diagnostics without making any code changes. The table below explains the three tiers: Tier Description NO_OVERHEAD Enables crash capture with no runtime cost and is suitable for broad deployment MEDIUM_OVERHEAD Provides a balance, capturing additional diagnostic data with moderate impact HIGH_OVERHEAD Collects the most detailed GPU and driver state available, enabling deeper investigation at the cost of higher runtime overhead In terms of availability, the company expects broader release to be around the fall of 2026, which should be right around the time when Windows 11 version 26H2 lands. Right now, DirectX Dump Files are available as a preview and currently, only AMD has the compatible AgilitySDK Developer Preview driver version 26.10.07.02. You can find the official announcement post here on Microsoft's website.
