you will find out that MS is putting the START button again, separating the METRO from the classic look.

Start Button, not the classic Start Menu. All the Start Button will do is bring you to the new Start Screen. There is a hotcorner for that now, but the update will make it visible. Just a rumor tho.

Obviously MS is out of touch...or wants everyone to think they way they are and to force people to change. Desktop is not dead and I really do not care/agree with what MS is saying.

Every major redesign of any software forces people to change.

Its a UI Beta, everyone is upset of this move. If you read the Blue reports, for the next OS, you will find out that MS is putting the START button again, separating the METRO from the classic look. This clearly shows that they failed to tested and sold it out to the public, and now are correcting the stupid mistakes they make over and over again, XP, FAIL, Win7, FAIL. It doesnt require an Harvard Doc to know they are doing this again and again. Eatch time they FAIL they lose their share for MAC and others.

If they handled Windows8 has a Beta to get to know the opinions they would have changed it like they are doing.

Beta isnt just on code aand features Beta is also in the UI acts and Feels. Windows 8 is for me a Beta, like it was Vista. People will go BLUE now the Beta testing is over.

Im not saying that Win8 doesnt have the Classic look, it does but not by reference, people like the reference thats why they are buying Windows OS for long. The next Blue Windows will have to Boot to classic mode and not consume resources with Metro style. Maybe Disable it for the ones that really dont want that, or dont own a Windows Phone.

People like to use Windows because they are in Control, they dont want Metro they want Choice ;)

You are working off rumors there, bud.

There is no reason they needed to make all those changes at once. Look at Apple. They are doing something similar with introducing iOS elements into OS X. The difference is, Apple is doing it gradually.

I tried Windows 8. Used it daily for a couple of months. I could handle the start screen (even if I didn't like it) but the desktop is just plain ugly. "Flattened" screens look like 1988. And Office 2013 was incredibly horrible to look at, as was Visual Studio. I don't know what happened in Redmond, but they went from a very nice looking OS (Windows 7) to one which I simply hate looking at. I finally went back to Windows 7 and it was such a nice change!

Behind the scenes, the changes are nice. But as many improvements as there were, the visuals were just too unpleasantly jarring to use it.

yeah, their marketshare certainly shows they're doing it right...

Actually sold executive political wing on Surface Pros. Win32 apps of course, but the Start Page as a launcher does well with this type of crowd as does the tablet form factor for a full blown PC.

Windows 8 is like a real car, but with Fisherprice instruments and paint!

That sounds more like XP.

I'd say Windows 8 is like a real car, but with a bunch of extra buttons and features sitting on top of features you already had.

If windows 8 was like a car then you'll find the gas pedal in the trunk, the brake pedal in the back seat and the steering wheel underneath the hood.

Takes a bit getting used to but if you don't like it then the problem is with YOU because this is how it is going to be done from now on, it is the future!

... that you are forced to look at, whether you want to or not. Oh, and Fischer Price buttons are not a "feature". How about the ability to resize Live Tiles to any size I see fit, or at least to the size of Windows 7 desktop icons, and arrange them freely on the Start Screen? Is that available yet? No.

This is just the continued dumbing down of computer technology in general. Just because it's new doesn't mean it's an improvement.

But hey, whatever stirs your drink, brah. We all have our own tastes. :)

A car, eh. Hmm... is this Windows 8?

One day ni the future, you're going to actually try windows 8, and realize how stupid all the stuff you say about it actually sounded.

The start screen is a launcher, and is the equivalent of the pinned items on the start menu. on the start menu you could fit about 5-8 on them on a decent screen, no way to organize them or fit them, with some hacking you could have more but then you'd spend more time looking up and down the list to find the right item than just typing in the name.

With the start screen. not only can you freely organize and move around the tiles on the screen. you can group them and organize them as you see fit. and even with 40 of them on the Screen AT ONCE(on a small 768 high screen) , WITHOUT SCROLLING, you can find and easily click the right tile right away, on top of that you can scroll and have quick access to hundreds of favorite programs if you so wish.

I am forced to work with windows 8 every single day due to my job.

I'm doubtful. in that case you probably installed classic shell without even trying the start screen as it's painfully obvious you have never used, tried or even seen the thing, heck your continued comments on the theme makes me doubt you've even seen it in screen shots.

I couldn't care less how "doubtful" you are hawkman, but one thing is certain, when a zealot deliberately attacks someone over their views is becomes clear that the zealot is on shaky ground and the zealot knows it.

Zealotry aside, If MS allows boot to desktop, with the start icon launching the Start Page, I believe the majority of people will accept this, especially if Search is streamlined and unified.

Would you accept that Order? Not love it, but accept it?

Technically, there is an "icon", it is just hidden until you mouseover to it. Boot to desktop would be nice.

    • Nice rant! Expletive after expletive after expletive. Poor petal, I've touched a nerve. Would you like a tissue to wipe those tears away. Btw, nice one calling Neowin trash. Why would you stick around when you disrespect this site and the people behind it? Just go away if you feel that way.

    • This is of course "clickbait" WTF? It is literally your example but tech based. A "clickbait" title is a sensationalized headline designed to manipulate readers into clicking a link using things like "fear" rather than delivering objective facts. A "clickbait" headline also usually provides little value compared to the hype generated. How does this headline not qualify? It's a generic often reused headline that is overly sensationalized. Oh no! "millions" can't use this app anymore. It has no basic facts like what f*cking app. You read the article and it's the Samsung VPN which no one cares about and there is a million free VPNs. How are you defending this ######? Headlines like this (and among other things) make me read Neowin much less than I used to in the past. It's trash...
