I noticed the PSN has been super slow the past couple days here in Canada.  Took a solid 30 seconds for it to get past the blue screen on my PS4.

It has gotten better for me since launch, but I still have days where its unreliable at best. In fact, I can't get on at the moment, but it was doing fine earlier today.

Awesome, enjoy every moment! :)

First grumble, if you replace the hard drive before booting up you need to download the full update, not the partial update. Downloaded the 300+mb update on my PC, and then had to get the 800mb+ one. Just about to move it onto USB now lol. My broadband speed is only 3.5mb FYI.

If that's all the grumble.. not bad I'd say.

Dude, you got too impatient. :)

Take a deep breath, settle yourself for a moment and then......go!

mine arrived yesterday

noticed you can't watch videos on a usb stick

need for speed doesn't really look next gen to be honest.

haven't played killzone yet

Everything looks very "wet" in NFS - like the windscreen reflections always look like it's been raining :p. Same on the XB version.

Killzone and Battlefield both look amazing. Resogun is good too.

Well after having the box for 24hrs I can safely say I am really enjoying this. The games look great, the only problem I've had is they have still disabled code redemption so I can't get ps+ .

I LOVE the controller. The PS3s controller was terrible. Those awful l2/r2 buttons and those god awful sticks ruined gameplay for me. But the PS4 controller feels like it was moulded specifically for my hands. The triggers and sticks feel great, I am amazed at how someone at Sony ate some humble pie and changes up the controller for the better.

Previously I did not think anyone would best the 360 pad but Sony have nailed it.

Being a 360 gamer primarily it would not have taken much to sway me to an xbox one if they didn't make so many mis steps but I am very glad I got a PS4. It is not perfect by any means, they need to work on the menu system it doesn't take long before it becomes a jumbled mess. And at about 6 hours the controllers battery isn't too good. But they got a lot of things right with this box.

Good work Sony.

Oh I don't know if I'd say the DS4 bests the 360 controller, but it gets it a hell of a lot closer. The only complaint I still have is the stick placement which probably will never change. The sticks are concave, but I noticed that doesn't stop my fingers from sliding off in the slightest bit. In fact, I found myself playing AC and learning to hold the stick forward with my right thumb while I repositioned my left when running after someone who wouldn't slow down. So I guess the "grippiness" of the sticks is one other slight complaint. Oh.... and the horrible battery life. Even with those complaints though, I'm very impressed with the DS4 to a point where I never thought I'd own a Playstation for how bad their controllers are and now I'm quite happy.

Yeah the battery life on the DS4 is diabolical.  They should give us the option to turn off that light bar so save some more juice.  In fact the battery life verges on unnacceptable. You can barely get an evenings gaming out of it, and the cable they give you is way too small to reach across the average living room to the couch.

Lucky it is using industry standard usb so we can get a longer cable cheaply.

Yeah the battery life is a glaring issue. Not even comparing it to the X1 controller, just to the DS3.

Yeah the 360 pad was what, 30 or 40 hours? The DS3 I don't even know it just kept going and going.

I ran out a DS4 today in 5 hours, and that wasn't even using the touchpad or anything playing out of the speaker. Whilst it is great to play with actually having the chance to play with it is a big issue.

If they were going to have so much stuff going on like the light bar, speaker and whatnot they should at least put a bigger battery in there. I think I read somewhere it is only 800 mAh

The Share option is broken too earlier I managed a pretty awesome kill from a rebound grenade, hit Share to upload to Facebook and the only option was a clip from 45mins earlier.

That is just poor. They should have these features working prior to release.

Well the delivery driver delivered mine to the wrong address, and because whoever lived there signed for it, they handed it over.

So now I get to spend time talking with them trying to find out exactly where it got delivered to.

Geez, that is terrible. Hope they don't drag that out.

I got lucky, the guy who signed for my PS4 lives just down the road from me, and they received a bunch of packages as well today (But hadn't gotten a chance to look through them)

My PS4 was literally sitting under a package addressed to them, looks like the driver has just grabbed them as a stack, scanned them, and handed them over. And because of the package on top they never noticed the one addressed to me.

I'd like to thank my neighbours who will never read this, but were very helpful to me

Anyone else underwhelmed by the graphics? A friend of mine picked one up so i called down to have a look.. Don't get me wrong the graphics are amazing, but the PS3 graphics were amazing and the improvement is nothing to shout about. I'm sure there is a lot more to come but so far it's a bit of a let down.

Consider the improvement from PS2->PS3... PS3->PS4 doesn't come close. I know not to expect such big incremental updates each time but is this all they can give us over a 10 year period?

I'll be sticking with my PC.

They're basically still working with the same resolution. Both the PS3 and PS4 output to a maximum of 1080p. The advancements in graphics currently won't be so much of a WOW but more like "Hey look, individual reflections on these blades of grass". As developers get more comfortable with the console, we will see some visually stunning games, almost always console exclusive, show up. You just have to give it time. inFamous Second Son, for instance, looks AMAZING.

I purchased AC4 yesterday I noticed the same thing.  I didn't have that issue with Killzone, but for most of that you are walking slow, not really chasing.  But in AC4 the mission where you have to chase the guy through the city after the Assasins come, I had to repeat like 6 times, because my thumb would come off the controller, or I would climb a wall by accident, or get stuck hanging from a wall and instead of jumping up he would jump to the left or right,

Well the delivery driver delivered mine to the wrong address, and because whoever lived there signed for it, they handed it over.

So now I get to spend time talking with them trying to find out exactly where it got delivered to.

This happened to my first PS4.  UPS Showed delivered to porch, but my sister was at the house all day and no-one came by.   So I called up UPS and they had delivered to the wrong address, no signature or anything.  I live at 226 and it was delivered to 225.  So I ran outside and sure enough it was at 225 on the front porch under a chair.

Playing sporadically over the last two weeks since I got my PS4, and I am still really enjoying it. Though I do wish the controller's battery life was better. I really hope they update the firmware to allow you to turn off the LED. It's really not useful if you don't have a PS camera. But there are plenty of positives to balance out the few negatives I have.

I really love the suspend functionality. For example, yesterday when I was playing Knack, the girlfriend wanted to watch a movie, so I hit the PS button on the controller and loaded Netflix. We watched a movie and when it was done, I hit the PS4 button again, clicked on Knack, and it immediately went back to the game in the pause menu right where I left off. Glorious.

I also platinum'd Knack yesterday. I really enjoyed it. I'm working on Resogun and Killzone now. I'll eventually get to the 3rd party games, but for right now I'm satisfied with the 1st party stuff. Resogun coop is also awesomely good fun too. My brother and I like playing "chuck-the-human" for extra laughs. It's completely unnecessary, but also completely worth it.

I'm really liking the multitasking/suspend features as well. I think multitasking may be the biggest 'little' feature for next gen consoles. Its something most won't bring up, but boy is it awesome to have.

Also, I wanted to throw up a +1 for resound coop, its tons of fun.

I ended up buying Amazon's Vita Walking Dead holiday bundle yesterday. It's the OLED version and it comes with The Walking Dead season 1, Uncharted, Sly Cooper, and Retro City Rampage, and a 4gb card. All for $180. To top it off I was able to get a 32gb card at Gamestop for $40 because it was on sales for Cyber Monday.

Not to mention I have a bunch of VIta games waiting for me because of PS+. I can't wait until it comes in the mail. Thank God for Amazon Prime free 2-day shipping!

    • JBL BAR 800 5.1.2 Dolby Atmos soundbar is an amazing deal today by Sayan Sen This Amazon Prime Day 2026 sales so far we have had a couple of nice deals related to sound and audio. First we have the Sennheiser HD 600 at its lowest ever price of just $225. Next we also have the Beats Studio Pro at its lowest price ever at just $150. However perhaps you prefer your gear to sound great on a larger scale, like throughout the room. In that case an all-in-one soundbar system can help and currently JBL's BAR 800 is a great deal for sure as it's up for grabs at just $600 (purchase link under the specs table down below). One thing that should be appreciated a lot about these JBL soundbars is their spec sheet and the frequency response data it provides. The firm is honest about it as JBL confirms the subwoofer is able to go down to 35 Hz at -6dB or F6. This means it should be covering 40Hz and up very well, where most of the bass lies. You miss out on a lot of sub-bass but that is to be expected given the price point and the subwoofer driver size. Speaking of which, it is a 10-inch driver and promises a max output power of 300 watts at 1% THD (total harmonic distortion). JBL also claims the system will provide you with a "True Dolby Atmos" experience. The surround speakers are wireless and battery-powered which means setting them up should be really convenient. The technical specs of the JBL BAR 800 are given in the table below: Specification Value Channel Configuration 5.1.2-channel soundbar system Dolby Atmos Yes, with 2 up-firing drivers Total System Power Output 720 W Soundbar Power Output 340 W Surround Speaker Power Output 2 × 40 W Subwoofer Power Output 300 W Soundbar Drivers 3 × 46×90 mm racetrack drivers, 3 × 20 mm tweeters, 2 × 70 mm up-firing full-range drivers Surround Speaker Drivers 1 × 46×90 mm racetrack driver (each speaker) Subwoofer Driver 10-inch (260 mm) wireless subwoofer Frequency Response 35 Hz – 20 kHz (-6 dB) Audio Inputs Optical, Bluetooth, Chromecast built-in, AirPlay, Alexa Multi-Room Music (MRM), USB* HDMI Inputs 1 HDMI video input HDMI Output 1 HDMI eARC output HDCP Version 2.3 HDR Pass-Through HDR10, Dolby Vision Bluetooth Version 5.0 Wi-Fi Version 6, 6E Streaming Services Chromecast built-in, Apple AirPlay, Alexa MRM Get it at the link below: JBL Bar 800-5.1.2-Channel Dolby Atmos soundbar with Detachable Surround Speakers (Black): $599.85 (Sold and Shipped by Amazon US with Prime) Prime subscription can be cancelled within three business days. • Microsoft releases PowerToys v0.100.1, fixes a bug that made remapped keys misbehave by Ivan Jenic Microsoft just released PowerToys v0.100.1, a patch update that addresses several stability and behavior issues found in v0.100.0. The v0.100.0 patch was a significant update for PowerToys, as it introduced all sorts of new features and additions, such as a rebuilt Shortcut Guide, a Command Palette Extension Gallery, webcam overlay support in ZoomIt, and more. However, the v0.100.0 version also introduced some bugs and stability issues. And now, Microsoft is addressing these issues in the new patch. The most impactful fix in this release perhaps is in Keyboard Manager, where remapped modifier keys were being delivered as system-key events, causing unexpected behavior in apps. The clearest example of this was Alt-to-Backspace remaps, deleting whole words instead of a single character. So, if you thought there was an issue with your keyboard, Microsoft just confirmed that it was PowerToys. Beyond the Keyboard Manager fix, v0.100.1 also addresses several other issues. It fixes a bug with Power Display that was preventing monitors from waking from standby correctly. Additionally, the new update patches Quick Access crashes on launch, and resolves a Shortcut Guide crash that occurred when switching between sidebar sections. Here’s the full changelog: Color Picker Fixed a bug where the main Color Picker window could appear inside the zoomed-in picker view Command Palette Fixed Run history initialization in AOT builds Fixed a bug where the Performance Monitor dock item could show ??? after restart Fixed the Hibernate command using the Sleep icon Limited the "pin to dock" dialog to displays where the dock is enabled Keyboard Manager Fixed modifier keys remapped to non-modifier keys being delivered as system-key events, which caused unexpected behavior in apps such as Alt-to-Backspace deleting whole words Power Display Fixed a bug where selecting On in the monitor power-state control did not wake a monitor from standby Fixed built-in display detection and brightness control on dual-GPU laptops where the internal panel is driven by the discrete GPU PowerToys Run Fixed VS Code Workspaces discovery after VS Code moved recently opened workspace data to shared storage Quick Access Fixed Quick Access flyout crashes caused by unhandled XAML exceptions during launch or page navigation Shortcut Guide Fixed a crash when navigating between Shortcut Guide sidebar sections Fixed number-key rendering in shortcut manifests and added a Postman shortcut manifest Updated bundled shortcut manifests to use the literal number-key token so number keys render correctly across apps ZoomIt Fixed a race condition in audio initialization for ZoomIt video recording You can download PowerToys v0.100.1 from the official GitHub releases page.
