Also, the lap record's been thrashed at Bahrain. 1:31.447 was the record before this weekend - set by Pedro de la Rosa in 2005 with McLaren - it fell in FP2, now Bottas just beat it by ~2.7 seconds.

The Serious Fraud Office has been asked to consider opening a criminal investigation after a confidential document seen by ITV News revealed the details of a deal between Formula One and its regulator which one QC says could amount to bribery.

ITV News has been shown a confidential copy of the Concorde Implementation Agreement in July 2013 between Formula One Group (the commercial rights holders of the sport) and the Federation Internationale d'Automobile (FIA), the governing body.

The deal proved controversial when it was announced because it reorganised the way the sport was governed in a way that greatly increased the power of both Formula 1 and the FIA while reducing the influence of the sport's four smallest racing teams, two of which have since gone bust.

The financial details of the deal were never made public but at the heart of the agreement were two arrangements that look highly questionable: the FIA was granted and chose to accept a $5 million (£3.9m) lump sum for entering into the agreement as well as a 1% stake in Formula 1 for $460,000 (£358,800) - a tiny fraction of the market value.

As the governing body of motor sport, the FIA is supposed to act independently and in the sport's best interests. Some believe there is a strong argument that the Concorde Implementation Agreement between F1 and the FIA may have broken the law.

Jonathan Fisher QC, a barrister who specialises in corporate and financial crime, told ITV News that the deal have potentially breached sections 1, 2 and 7 of The Bribery Act.

We showed the agreement to Damian Collins, the MP who chairs the Culture, Media and Sport Committee. He has written to the Serious Fraud Office to ask it to assess whether the agreement amounted to a bribe.

I know the regulations are too tight, but there is no way you should be having to serve a grid penalty before the 4th race has started. Honda seriously need to get their act together.

I think if you purposely tried to build an unreliable engine, you still wouldn't end up with one this bad.

I can't help but think Ferrari are just on a different testing plan, FP1 is always a little too mixed to read too much into the times. Start to get an idea in FP2 on how close things actually are but I'm glad Merc seem to have gotten over the issues of Sochi.

    • Being on GitHub doesn't make something safe. Like any unofficial scripts to do x or y this caters to people with just enough knowledge to be dangerous. If you want to do what this does, and you actually know what you're doing then write your own script (or maybe just add the reg keys yourself) if you don't have the ability to read and understand what a script is doing, and especially don't run it with elevated privileges. Or in this case just use an MSA, sign up the normal route, and stop trying to push water up hill
    • Dude get a clue, LTSC is Enterprise, not even legal for consumers, and ESU is not mainstream support cycle, just an extended security updates period.
    • Nvidia is your issue more so than linux itself. I did used it for a while with an old 1060 3gb, but using propietary drivers was kind of messy.
