Its because it doesn't decrease. Consider it your permanent record.

I don't think that it's fair the xStainDx keeps a warning of 40% when he has been a long standing member, eg: A member that has got 40% in two days is a lot worse than someone that has got 40% in two years.

There should be a forgiveness system (eg: -1% every two weeks of good behavior) to prevent such long standing members from getting high warnings for something that they did a long time ago, how else are we meant to learn from our mistakes? even the prison system releases prisoners after an amount of time so they can learn from their mistakes and try again, Even if they further abuse the system.

My No means does lowering the warning level mean erasing perminent records, but the warning level shouldn't be held against them in the amount of tolerence they have left for such a long period of time.

Very true - there's practically no point in having the system if people can't bellowed to learn from their mistakes.

It doesn't go down. Its your permanent record. Whether or not anyone deserves it, flaming is against the neowin rules.

If you don't want it to continue going up, obey the rules :)

That just puts too much power into the hands of mods. Neowin shouldn't subscribe to that. The policy should be that after a time warnings can drop off your record like speeding tickets do.

I can't believe that having this upsets people. No one was upset that it's been on their account for as long as 1.3 has been out. The only person who can see you level, besides staff, is you. Why get worked up over this?

I think a lot of people didn't know that such a structured warning system existed. :/

I wonder who has the highest warning percentage without being banned yet?

And I feel like starting a new thread about what the warning system is just for the great reactions that Silly and Spydie have been giving to merging them all. Good work guys. (Y)

Nobody's getting worked up.... except that WC guy.... it's just that xStainDx deserves to be allowed to flame 5 more times instead of 3 before he would get banned for being such a fantastic member this far! :o :p

HAHAHAHAHAHA

HAHHAHAHAHAHA :woot:

But it was activated now. That what concerns a lot of people. It wasnt there when older version of IPB were installed. No 1 cared but now that Redmak has activated it, it opens up a Pandora's box.

Yeah lots of people want to know why their accounts were warned without notification. It seems not to be just 1 or 2.. Sounds typical..

It was better off without the thing. Close pandora's box.

better yet, wipe the slate clean so people can feel less intimidated by the whole thing. Then keep the warning level as an option that members enable. that woudl be the professional way to handle this situation.

The only thing activated is your ability to see it. Staff always have seen it. Your ability to see it changes what again?

The fact that now every1 has to watch what they post so that they dont want a warning seems to be a bit rough on them. Not that Neowin hasnt been a top quality forum but the fact that now posts have to be worded carefully seems to curtail a genuine opinion/anger that can originate based on a stupid comment/post.

I dont care about the warning signs. Basically, I think it helps to keep our words in check and also less work for you guys to warn becoz i think it can restrict unnecessary words and make a person think before they post (yup, sucking upto you ;) ). However if this is what is needed to make Neowin a much better-than-currently-a top forum, then I'm all up for it.

This is horse-pockey. The system was in place before. People got warned before. We knew about it before. The Rules page existed before today, and all of the rules that are posted in it. I repeat, the only thing that changed is the little 0% under your details.

BTW, many other IPB sites show members the Warn Bar. It's not like Neowin hacked this feature in just to **** you guys off.

Yes but the perception changes when you can see your own warning slider. When the slider was absent, a lot of people posted stuff against the rules. True, some people could care jack**** about the slider even now but it would enforce some kind of restraint (internally) among posters who sincerely follow rules or want to.

Again, a reiteration from my previous post

if this is what is needed to make Neowin a much better-than-currently-a top forum, then I'm all up for it.

    • New Outlook for Windows and Web is getting a simple but very useful email feature by Sayan Sen Recently Microsoft put up a blog post highlighting not one, not two, but 15 total reasons why it feels you should switch to New Outlook already. If that was not enough, the company is bringing another new feature soon that could finally compel you to switch over to the new app. According to a recent update on the Microsoft 365 roadmap, the tech giant is making changes to how message sorting works when users choose criteria besides the traditional options of From, Subject, or Date Received. The idea is to provide better options for the attribute being used for sorting and make it easier to understand why messages appear in a particular order. For those unfamiliar Outlook already allows users to sort emails using a variety of fields including sender, category, importance, subject, and message size. Users can access these options through the Filter menu in Outlook for Windows and Outlook on the web. With the upcoming change, whenever users sort by a field other than From, Subject, or Date Received, Outlook will automatically display an additional column showing the value being used for the sort. For example, if messages are sorted by Size, a Size column will appear in the message list, allowing users to immediately see the data that determines the ordering of emails. Microsoft believes this should make sorting behavior simpler and reduce the need to manually adjust views or inspect individual messages. Support for sorting by Flag Due Date is also coming and should be especially be helpful for users who rely on email flags to manage follow-up tasks and deadlines. The feature is listed under Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 564803 and is expected to reach general availability beginning later this month itself (June 2026). You can find the entry here. As always though, users should keep in mind that roadmap timelines can change and rollout schedules may occasionally be adjusted by Microsoft. Outlook for Web is also set to receive this feature.
    • That is true. but the liability side of my balance sheet is clean and has been for decades.  Nobody comes a knocking,  calling or writing harassing me for the money i owe them.😎👍  Haven't dealt with "a money changer" in decades and like Jesus it was in Jerusalem.  Don't have much money, but have even less stress in my life.👍👍     P.S.  Sorry, can't walk on water or change it to wine,
    • Maybe ? DLSS Swapper (can swap the DLSS/FSR/XeSS versions) as long as the game (typically online/competitive) doesn't checks for file tampering. You can try different version(s) or update if not the current version of the FSR. https://github.com/beeradmoore/dlss-swapper
