Microsoft has announced the general availability of Windows Admin Center (WAC) version 2511. This release includes significant updates, feature restorations, and security enhancements based on the feedback Microsoft has received from users.
Among its key highlights and restored functionality is that High Availability (HA) deployment has been restored. The ability to deploy WAC in a failover cluster for high availability has been brought back and is compatible with the modernized gateway. This update also enhanced silent installations with restored and improved command-line silent installation support.
Another key highlight is that installation details are now written to the Windows Event Log for centralized visibility, compliance, and easier troubleshooting. There is also new documentation available to assist with updating or troubleshooting certificates following changes in the WAC backend (version 2410).
This version also resolves an issue that prevented successful migration to the new backend for users coming from version 2410 or later, which was caused by a localization error in certificate processing. Furthermore, it fixes an issue where installations were failing on Windows Server 2022 and older systems.
Version 2511 brings some core tools and feature updates, too. For example, virtual machine management gets improved import and export workflows and enhanced host settings with more configuration options and backend validation. Other VM improvements include improved creation and configuration workflows for virtual switches and network controller integration, better rule management and validation for affinity rules, and faster VM list loading, clearer error messages, and a more responsive UI.

The Remote Desktop (RDP) tool has also been improved with support for over thirty international keyboard layouts, including Japanese, German, and French, using advanced detection methods. RDP also sees a critical bug fixed that caused the tool to stall during loading, ensuring faster startup and consistent connectivity.

This update also brings with it new security tools for Windows Server 2025, improvements to software-defined networking, the VM conversion tool, and new partner extension updates. You can read more about them in Microsoft's announcement.
