[DEFINITIVE] Half-Life 2 Thread

Recommended Posts

call me crazy  but I heard there is a HL2 Multiplayer already except you need the console to do everything. I'll try and find the link and post it up here

by the way...

DO NOT GO TO RAVENHOLM :p

heh found it hope the link works:

[EDIT]

According to Diablo150, there is a way to add the multiplayer menu in Half-Life 2.

Go to this folder: C:\Valve\Steam\SteamApps\xxx\half-life 2\hl2\resource\

And add the file "GameMenu.res" (http://www.halflifesource.com/ The Third topic down there should be a HL2 Multiplayer downlaod link :p).

Go to C:\Valve\Steam\SteamApps\xxx\half-life 2\hl2_*\cfg\

Add the file "settings.scr" (make copy of original file, for backup reasons. The settings.scr is also in the above file to download)

This is supposed to create a multiplayer game with Half-Life 2 interface. Let us know if this works!

Thanks Diablo150!

[/EDIT]

FWIW

If you o/c your CPU by increasing the FSB your memory speed will also increase since it is tied to the FSB. If you o/c by changing the multiplier on your CPU your memory speed won't change.

You also might want to check your memory timings too in the BIOS. If you set these too tight it can cause problems.

Can't seem to find where they are kept, i've had a look in the cfg directory, but i can't see any files that change the resolution

The game was around 100fps at 1024 x 768 so i thought i'd up the res, but it looks like my monitor doesn't support the resolution i selected

Looks like more people are running into this problem: HL 2 thread (15 pages)

One of the options i found:

1 "I fixed my problem with the memory error , what i did is i switch slot both my 256mb memory stick and so far i've played without crashing. You guys should try it out."

i got a radeon 9800 pro and a 1700+ amd athlon xp everything is on medium settings except water is reflect all and textures are on high, i get an average of 45 fps a second, sometimes itll drop to 20, and itll go as high as 80. A cpu really helps in this game because of all the calculations the game makes(physics etc.) so the faster the CPU the better. If i had a better CPU i could run the game with everything up no problem(but with little or no AA)

my fave part it tells u how to get speed up the startup(Which takes forever) by getting rid of the 3d background!

Although for some that'd be a bonus...and i noticed it when i looked earlier :) But for me i like it, it loads pretty fast imo already :p

it reduced the stuttering for me as well, but it's still there, and now i have a new bug, sometimes my squad put's it's arms straight out and floats along making weird noises and all the menus collapse to just an empty window, so i had control-alt-delete and end task to get out, when back again and it didn't do it, it was just creapy and weird

Well, this is not about multiplayer, but I was playing HL2 and got to the prison level. Then my son started playing and when I got back to play, I realized all my saved games were gone.

So my question is, is there any way that 2 people can play with different save games?

I got into Black Mesa, this nice lady is giving me some info. Now she's just standing there, quietly. When I get into the elevator nothing happens. She won't push the buttons, and when I do it for her nothing happens... now what?

BTW. Got my memory problem fixed, by putting the memory banks in different slots. :)

the sound stuttering is mostly cuased by to high of graphics or sound quality. ive fixed my suttering by getting another 512 3200 drr 400mhz. making my rig 1 gig ram strong :D

also i put audio quality to medium. high sounds alittle better, but for the performance, medium is just fine. i run everything else at high, with 2x aa and 2x antistropic, at 1024x768.

my rig is pretty slow though i believe compared to most.

athlonxp 2400 -2.00 ghz

1-gig ram 512 3200 ddr 400mhz

5700ultra fx 128- oc to 510 core and 990 mem.

That's interesting, I guess they fixed the red aux power bar. Anyway, to fix your problem buy the game.

Well my guess is that you are using pirated version. Most people who downloaded their copy are having AI problems. Restart the level or restart AI.

I just finished the game (5 minutes ago) and I just want to say: :omg:

That was the finest action game I have ever played in my life, I dont know how I liked Doom 3, Doom 3 is nothing compared to this.

To those who says that the end sucked, you couldnt be more clueless or wrong, the end was amazing and unexpected, it just take away your breath.

Damn, this game is going to set new standards in industry.

Again: :omg:

that street is still there in the game . The only thing u can recgonize it by tho is the cinema on the corner , the tram rails on the road and the statue has fallen over . The rest of it is unrecognizable . Alot changed between the E3 video and the final ;) still having said that it is still gonna be the best pc game for pc in a long time to come . U can stuff your doom 3's and your halo hl2 is da bomb

So kick back, relax, and hold on to your wallets. The Epic concluded its mystery giveaways this week with another double freebie promotion. As a part of this, you can now grab Rogue Waters and Songs of Conquest to keep. Songs of Conquest is a turn-based 4X strategy game where you'll be managing a kingdom, making tough decisions, and taking down enemy forces in tactical combat. On the same day, Warhammer 40K Speed Freeks will join in as the next freebie. Another Humble Choice offer was revealed earlier this week, bringing a refreshed eight-game selection to jump into. The June selection is Octopath Traveler 2, The Riftbreaker, Life is Strange: Double Exposure, INDIKA, Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector, Construction Simulator, Hell Clock, and Overlooting to keep as Steam keys. The $15 bundle gives you all eight games from this month's Choice selection. The month-long promotion will come to an end on July 6, giving you ample time to decide on whether you want the titles. The Humble Store also brought in standard gaming collections this week. The IGN Live Bundle kicked things off with games like Control, Shadow Gambit: The Cursed Crew, Blair Witch, Rollerdrome, and The Last Campfire for $10. At the same time, the We Will Always be Here bundle carried in titles like Bad End Theater, Thirsty Suitors, Vampire Therapist, and Tavern Talk for $12. Next, the 2K Sports Champions Bundle comes touting games like NBA 2K26, PGA TOUR 2K25, OlliOlli World Rad Edition, and TopSpin 2K25 with a hefty $25 price tag. • Exciting! It’s amazing how hearing Japanese can naturally enhance the perceived quality of any experience or product.
    • Your other comment in another article says otherwise, namely "Microsoft veteran wants to replace every single line of C/C++ code with Rust and AI".
    • Sued and... exonerated. Oh, they learned a lesson alright. They learned that anyone who uses the word "antiturst" in conjunction with "Microsoft" is an idiot, even if that person is Judge Thomas Penfield Jackson. That judge ruined the image of the US justice system. Microsoft Edge has a 5.14% market share. Also, Windows is no longer the #1 OS. None of this constitutes a monopoly. Google Chrome, however, has 70.25% share. Also, Google's Android is the #1 OS. Now that's closer to a monopoly.
