[DEFINITIVE] Half-Life 2 Thread

i used to get really sick playing the old first person shooters. i remember i puked once while playing rise of the triad. newer games don't have any effect on me though. the old ones bothered me because the walls would bend as you turned but modern 3d engines don't have that problem. i haven't played half life 2 yet, but i'm having second thoughts about buying it if this is a real problem for a lot of people.

Yeah the game is truly amazing. Gameplay is so dynamic and original. And the ending was done just right. It's too bad we're gonna have to wait another six years for HL3. But when it is out, I hope all the mysteries and secrets will finally be revealed. I can't wonder forver.

It's NOT going to be 6 years

Most of the development time was done on Source. Chances are HL3 will use an updated versoin of Source, which won't take as long.

That can give them more time to work in a concept, altho I think it will be HARD to top what they have done with Half Life 2

Just to point out yet ANOTHER reason Gman is not Gordon is

****Spoiler alert****

If you beat HL1, at the end G-man gives Gordon a choice to work for him or not.

If you decide not to work for him, he kills you.

That would make absolutely NO SENSE if he was himself from teh future.

Type in "steam://validate/220" without the quotes in your browser.

This will check your copy for corrupted textures and update the game as necessary. Next go to ATI's site, download the 4.12 betas and install. Then make sure the fan on your video card is working; artifacting often forms when cards overheat. If it still does it after all of that then you either have a bad card or some other component in your PC has probably failed such as the ram.

There is a thread about this on steampowered.com Motion Sickness

Basically if you change the POV from 75 to 90 it solves the problem.

I thought this was going to be about people calling in sick at work, so that they could stay at home and play Half Life 2!

No motion sickness here, but I have a real-life fear of deep water and the early levels involving lots of water made me feel queasy... but that's a tribute to the graphics of the game, not a complaint!

Ya I used ot get a headache playing Wolf 3D on PC.

I think also I have a bit of epilepsy (sp?) because every time I played Strider (arcade and Sega Genesis) I would get very sick to my stomache and throw up and be ill for a few days. Same thing when I watched the movie Pee Wee's Big Adventure. After the 3rd time it made me sick I realized that the movie was making me sick and it wasn't a coincidence.

The last sections of the game were awesome.. throwing the combine dudes around with that blue grav gun was gaming excellent - and the graphical effect of those weird blue cylinders which kinda suspended them in an energy field was amazing. Best single player PC game ever I think for me! :)
