[DEFINITIVE] Half-Life 2 Thread

How about satisfaction in knowing that there definitely will be a sequel?

I dont really mind the ending at all, so long as Half Life 3 concludes EVERYTHING, including the mysterious G Man.

More gaming time is beneficial (to an extent) for me :)

Me and my friend Finsta wanted a nicer installer for the copy of Half-Life 2 that we both bought off of steam, so we decided to make one. He did the coding and I did the graphics work. You have to create the backup and download the steam installer yourself, just follow the instructions and you should be fine.

Download it here , too big to attach, if the bandwith is gone, here is a temp link.

Half-Life 2 DVD Backup Loader brought to you by Enrickey and Finsta.

About

This is a program meant to help the people who bought HL2 over steam (or the people who bought

the cd version and want to compile it under one DVD) have a nice installer to go along with it.

This program auto-detects whether you have Steam installed or not.

You are required to download the steam installer and create the backup on your own.

Requirements

Installed copy of Half-Life 2

DVD+/-RW

~4.5 Gigabytes of HD space

DVD Mastering program (Nero, Easy CD Creator, etc...)

Instructions

Extract the files into "C:\HL2Installer\" (this is only temporary)

Use the steam backup wizard to create a DVD backup of Half-Life 2 and Counter-Strike: Source

Place the backup in "C:\HL2Installer\Data\"

Make sure the backup is named "hl2backup.exe"

Download the steam installer from http://www.steampowered.com

Place the steam installer in "C:\HL2Installer\Data\"

Make sure the steam installer is named "SteamInstall.exe"

Burn the contents of "c:\HL2Installer\" to an empty DVD

It is now safe to delete the folder "C:\HL2Installer\"

There is a scene after the credits?

*goes to check*

For Nvidia drivers, you should be able to configure it via DisplayProperties [Nvidia tab].

Else, try using Reforce. Auto-populate the frequencies per/ resolution, and modify it so that your desired resolution runs @ 75 hz.

Iirc, for Ati, you'll need to disable ddc (?)

if the headscrab you see is a scene for u ...

ok ! :pinch:

Huh?

I will have to re-play the last level, so I will do it in an hour. Don't spoil it for me! :p

I'm completely stuck in the "our benefactors" map.  I'm at where the pods are being prepped on a conveyor line or something.  I got into one of the pods then I died when I was shocked.

you need to take the other pod. You don't see two pod coming at same time. One turn right (the one you taked) and one turn left, where you need to go.

Damn, thanks. It's always a simple solution.

uh turn on vsync? o_O

Vsync syncs your frame rate and monitor refresh rate. Doesnt change your refresh rate in any way.

A lot of people have had problems with this, didnt bother me and I've finished the single player game so its not really an issue for me now but some people are using Reforce to force higher refresh rates on ATi cards. With an Nvidia card you would probably be able to use the override that comes with the drivers.

Have a look at some Half Life 2 boards, there should be a few threads at the big sites to help you out.
