So I've been playing on a friends server lately.

Tauren, Druid.. really enjoying it.

Pretty much made my mind up.

I'm going to go back to my home server when expansion hits,

Worgen Druid, Skinner, Leatherworker, Fisherman, Archaeologist, First Aid.

I can't load up the Armory page but all of what you said depends on if he is trying to be a tank or not.

The few times i've been in a dungeon i have been the tank. But it's not something i've set myself up to do.

At this moment i just want to be at level 49 so i can get into the battlefields, i only became aware of them at level 40 so there was no point in going in to battle when everyone else was at level 49.

and yes i'm setup as Arms.

I'd also be interested to know some information on tanking, are there any idiot guides on the internet? of what exactly your supposed to / whats required of you etc..

I've just attempted a dungeon and failed miserably. lol... i'm automatically chosen as the tank, but apparently not a very good one.

Classes that can tank will always get pigeon holed into tanking well into the 70s.

Tanking is really just a matter of being situationally aware and make good use of cool downs and of course having a tank spec. Have you looked on the warrior section in the WoW forums for guides?

Pretty much your only job as a tank is to make sure mobs and bosses are only attacking you. That's it.

Great forum for tanks: http://tankspot.com

Ok, just bought the game, installing lich king expansion now ... where to start? :l

Ah crap, more patches :x

Well, after you patch, kiss everyone in your life good bye, including your social life, goodbye..

Then .. well..

Its upto you. Join the Neowin server.

Not every week will they do maintenance. Last week for example were just restarts. However season 6 ended today and there applying hardware upgrades to fix the instance servers so maintenance is necessary.

But like Andrew said, kiss your social life goodbye, this game will pull you in by the balls and not let go.

wowinsider.com

Elitistjerks.com (be careful what you post here, there ban happy)

mmo-champion (stay away from the forums)

tankspot.com if you plan on tanking in your WoW Career.

wowmb.net if you plan on being a warlock.

tkasomething.com if you plan on being a hunter.

The official WoW forums but be careful what you read there.

I like WoW.com for a lot of good info... News & guides for various aspects of the game.

Wowhead.com is a great database for item information. They also have a forum, but I never really use it.

Wowwiki.com is what it sounds like: a wiki about WoW. It's got information about just about everything as far as I know (at least everything I've ever looked for is in there).

wow, how did I forget about the obvious ones. :p

Yeah wowhead is awesome. It's a giant database of every quest, item, spell, talent, you name it in the game. Really helpful for quests you dont know what to do, or where to go.

In terms of addons I'd reccomend Questhelper, makes leveling faster and easier.

no one ever truly quits an MMO they've invested a decent amount of time in :p I actually think it's healthy to quit every so often for a few months, stops you getting bored of the game and by that time new content is out. I tend to do this every 6 months or so :p

ive played the game for the last 3 years. ive experienced everything the game has to offer. i quit soon after ulduar was released. i can tell you i WONT be back. the game's gotten so lame, repetitive. everyone looks alike. epics are dirt easy to acquire. fights arent the least bit epic. there hasnt been anything epic about this game for a while.

blizzard is milking the cow now...

btw, lol @ new horde class. have fun playing a gremlin guys.

I'm feeling the addiction now... i stopped playing just after xmas and i'd not played it up until a few days ago, i thought i best play it since i'd been paying the fee and not using it... i am on holidays at work, i get like 6 weeks off so its really boring, i got up today at 10am and i'm only just about to log out, but i'll b back about 10pm tonight lol...

I dont think i could ever get to the point it take over my life, but i do feel the urge to keep playing, i don't even know what it is, because the thought of just going to different zones, killin different things in different ways does nothing for me, i'm already finding it repeative... but there is something that draws you in.

    • UK funds £60M AI labs to challenge US tech dominance with open-source models by Paul Hill The UK government has awarded £60 million to Oxford University and University College London to help keep the country in the AI race by focusing on open-source, low-hardware alternatives. This is in stark contrast to the expensive, closed-source, and high-hardware-requirement models being created in the United States and elsewhere. The money will be shared among two new academic research labs over six years to help them redesign the fundamental mathematics and architectures of AI to help the UK reduce its reliance on a handful of US tech firms. Commenting on the development, AI Minister Kanishka Narayan said: Initially, the government planned to fund just one lab with a £40 million investment, but with this update, two labs will now get access to a larger pool of funds. The labs are expected to invest in the top AI researchers at every career stage, with £2 million per lab being set aside for hiring at least ten doctoral students. The government hopes that this will grow the UK’s talent in the field of AI. The labs are also expected to work closely with the leaders in British AI research, such as the Alan Turing Institute and UKRI’s AI research hubs. This will allow the various teams to collaborate and create new solutions faster than they could alone. This development is pretty interesting for a number of reasons, chiefly that it could create a long-term challenge for US tech firms if these labs successfully scale these open-source architectures that bypass the proprietary ecosystems. It could also give British businesses and public sector organizations access to AI features without paying high licensing fees to foreign providers or needing to invest in specialized server infrastructure.
    • If I were them, I'm gonna hold out until the prices of these semiconductor parts normalize. $1,049 for a ~5 year old hardware is DoA, more so for gamers. On a deeper note, if Steam Machine is priced like this, we are soo effed up for the next gen Xbox console and PS6. With great AAA titles releasing at the end of the year, this just creates more demand...and more tears for me. Lol.
    • I suspect one reason its hard to justify subsidising is that it's not a locked down device like a traditional console is. In this climate sadly if it was a "good deal" you'd get people hoarding them for anything but gaming. The Lenovo Legion Go 2 with the Ryzen Z2 Extreme is £1300 here ($1720) for some context on how other SteamOS like devices are now priced. I got the older Z1 Extreme model for £300 with a dock, just shows how insane prices have got recently.
