WTF, so are tuesdays always like this? First they say one time, then another time 2 hours later ... and the realms still aren't up? Not very impressed. Haven't even paid for a month yet, installed the 14 day free trial, then went out and bought everything the next day. So, I got another month free ... if things are going to be like this, then I won't pay :/

thanks. how do i edit posts? dont see any edit button anywhere :/

seems at it forgot something on me and didnt give edit button to my earlier post ;(

sorry for double posting

edits only last for so long ... that was 2 hours in-between posts ... so of course it's gone :p

tuesday realms always go down in the am for maintenance. sometimes they do a patch release and when ever that happens normally maintenance gets extended. so it's not always like this just on occasion.

Yeah, in the AM. Went down at 6AM EDT it is now 5:01PM EDT. So basically, you can't play the game on Tuesday's or what?

I'm playing ok on Agramaarr

Question:.. is the human warrior the most boring character in the game? i'm in the battlegrounds and there are lots of different characters doing some pretty nifty spells n stuff...some have amazing weapons and are destroying my human warrior, who has nothing but a couple of sword tricks.

I'm thinking of leveling a new character, can someone reccomend a decent race and class? i dont like the idea of just standing there blasting spells, i like to use weapons alot and get stuck in, but it would be kool to do some some spells and have some weapons i am seeing...who fits the bill for that?

A shaman, then :) And as alliance, you've only got one choice, Draenei..

Damn, just died for the first time ... almost level 6 :l was somewhere I wasn't strong enough to be yet ... Ruins of Silvermoon

Hi guys,

Are any of you running WoW through HTTP-Tunnel and SocksCap??

Having issues with connecting with a BattleNet account at work.

Just wanted to know if anyone else is having the same issue and if you have been able to fix it. Only been a problem for a week.

Cheers.

My level 38 gnome mage holds a record for deaths. He is at like 105, my paladin who is 80 had about 100 @ 80. I hate mages, there too squishy.

I played WoW from release until about a month ago when I moved because I'm a bit bored of WoW really and even the new expansion doesn't fill me with confidence of returning. There's something lacking in PC games these days and I'm just focusing on the X-Box...

But if I ever check back into WoW, you'll be able to find me on (Euro Servers)

Dragonmaw (Alliance) under Kanus, a Draenei Hunter

or possibly on...

Emerald Dream (Alliance) under Raktael, a NELF Warrior

Both level 80 :)

WoW was once awesome, but lately I don't know, it's been lacking something it used to have, and tbh I'd rather have a social life these days, I'm getting on in years (25 now) so it's about time I left WoWdom...besides, Old Republic is coming out ;)

****

On a quick side note of interest, is the Neowin Guild on Euro or US servers?

Ok, now the servers are down yet again. For hardware re-configuration. This is crap. I sure hope it isn't like this every freaking week.

No, this is unusual like the out-of-band patch last week to fix an exploit. On the plus side, the servers they are maintaining today are supposed to be getting the "additional instances cannot be launched" fix.

I'm all for improvements and all ... but damn it came at a bad time :) My off days are Tuesday and Wednesdays ... don't get to play much later one, when the kids get home from school ...
well im going to roll new char ally, on bronzebeard, wondering if game is as boring it were when i quit 8months ago

The game basically consists of the following:

  • Leveling to Max
  • Gearing up for PVE or PVP or Both
  • Fighting other players / Going through Dungeons

--- New Expansion ---

  • Leveling to Max
  • Gearing up for PVE or PVP or Both
  • Fighting other players / Going through Dungeon

The scenery changes and new 'mini-games' arrive like Achievements and Crafting but the core of the game that you do has remained the same so if you don't enjoy that then the game probably is not for you. This is pretty much how every MMO is though.

I personally play the game because I enjoy PVP I enjoy working towards a goal and then finally getting it (Delayed gratification!) and I also enjoy seeing the world that has been created by Blizzard and finally conquering some big Boss with my fellow guildies. What I said above may seem like a put down on the game so I just wanted to clarify that I enjoy the game even if I can see how the entire thing is designed to keep us paying and playing for as long as possible with no real depth beyond those goals.

The game is a lot like life, it is what you make it, you can see it as half empty or half full.

    • OpenAI's new GPT-5.5-Cyber tops Claude Mythos 5 in vulnerability benchmark by Pradeep Viswanathan OpenAI today announced a major expansion of Daybreak, a cybersecurity initiative designed to help defenders find, validate, and fix software vulnerabilities earlier in the development process. The availability of powerful AI models has definitely changed the cybersecurity landscape by making vulnerability discovery much faster. However, the bigger bottleneck for the industry is now patching those vulnerabilities. Impacted software teams need to validate the discovered issues, understand their impact, develop fixes, test them, and deploy patches. Back in March, OpenAI launched a preview of Codex Security, which uses agentic reasoning with automated validation to discover high-impact issues and actionable fixes specific to the codebase. Since then, it has scanned more than 30 million commits across over 30,000 codebases; more than 70,000 findings were marked as fixed by human reviewers, while over 500,000 findings were automatically determined to be fixed. Now, OpenAI is releasing an updated Codex Security plugin that can run deep scans, review recent code changes, generate security reports, trace attack paths, validate findings, and create codebase-specific patches for human review. It can also triage findings from existing scanners, advisories, bug bounty reports, and ticketing systems. OpenAI says the plugin can export results to vulnerability management systems and integrate with workflows using SARIF files, CodeQL queries, the Codex CLI, and the Codex app. Back in May, OpenAI announced the preview of GPT-5.5-Cyber, a new model built on top of the recently released GPT-5.5, designed for specialized cybersecurity work. Today, OpenAI launched the full version of GPT-5.5-Cyber through a limited release for verified defenders. On CyberGym, GPT-5.5-Cyber scored 85.6%, compared with 81.8% for GPT-5.5 and 83.8% for Claude Mythos 5. It also scored 39.5% on ExploitGym, compared with 25.95% for GPT-5.5, and 69.8% on SEC-bench Pro, compared with 63.1%. OpenAI also announced the new Daybreak Cyber Partner Program, which will allow security vendors and service providers to use GPT-5.5 with Trusted Access for Cyber in their products and services. Accenture, Akamai, Cisco, Cloudflare, CrowdStrike, IBM, Palo Alto Networks, Proofpoint, SentinelOne, Wiz, Zscaler, and others were listed as initial partners for this program. OpenAI is also launching Patch the Planet with Trail of Bits, HackerOne, Calif, researchers, and maintainers. More than 30 open-source projects have committed to participate, including cURL, Go, Python, Sigstore, and pyca/cryptography.
    • AMD confirms 26.6.2 FSR driver breaks on many Windows PCs by Sayan Sen Earlier today AMD released a major graphics driver update as it brings support for FSR 4.1 to Radeon RX 7000 series GPUs. The new update, version 26.6.2, also brings support for Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced and more. And while the driver technically supports Windows 10 version 21H2 and newer, the tech giant has confirmed that there is a major issue with the new driver on non-Windows 11 PCs as it fails to launch properly on such systems. The error message says, "The version of AMD Software that you have launched is not compatible with your currently installed AMD graphics driver." Therefore on the surface it looks like a compatibility problem. AMD has also confirmed that the device manager will display the yellow bang or yellow exclamation sign alongside your GPU under the Display adapters dropdown. Here is what the Radeon team's official advisory recommends to affected users: "Users Running Windows 10 and AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition 26.6.2 May Encounter Yellow Bang in Device Manager Affecting AMD Radeon RX Series Graphics ... Our Engineers are currently investigating this issue and will provide a fix once it is available. Affected users may revert to AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition 26.6.1 as a temporary workaround." As such you should revert back to the previous 26.6.1 driver which was released earlier this month. In case you were looking to play Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced and DOOM: The Dark Ages | Revelations you will probably have to wait a while if you want the driver to support those games officially. You can find the support article here on Microsoft's website.

    • A McDonald's restaurant uses about 1.5 to 2 million gallons of water per year for operations like food preparation, cleaning, and restrooms. That is a lot less than the 2,083 gallons of water per megawatt hour mentioned above.
