Elitist Jerks seems to have rolled back a year and a half and the home page is showing updates from when Sunwell was hot stuff.

I thought This was funny. At level 70 with "not even best-in-slot" gear 2000 DPS was only barely acceptable. The number of pugs I see with an extra 10 levels and Tier 9 that are still unable to hit that mark is depressing.

I went and dragged some old friends through their classic raider achievement today. Viscidus with only a single shaman to do frost damage is an exercise in pain. 10-manned all the old content in a couple of hours, that was fun.

Might see about getting them through the outland raider achievements next month.

Just started playing WoW abour 3 days ago, seems like there is a bit of a learning curve to the game as i dont have a clue what most of you are taking about yet, seems like its good fun though.

I can see me devoting a LOT of time to this one. (I know - welcome to 2005).

Don't worry TheBlueRaja

I've been playing this game on and off since Beta and I just got back after 7 months break from it, I still don't get all the acronyms, but honestly I don't play like I use to. It comes to in time.

Just prepared to have no life if it sucks you in. Just to warn you.. :p

That was one of the reasons i didnt want to play - ever! But i thought - hey - its the christmas hols, i've some time on my hands might as well see what all the fuss is about.

Could be an expensive mistake. :D

Finally after two weeks of being grouped with nubs i found a group that suprisingly had a few braincells on my server. VoA25 downed without any problems.... Just a niggle tho... Arcane Mages!

Why are they only using 2 Spells and Topping meters... surely thats wrong! Hunters were easy to play and were called huntards due to steadyshot spam, but now this is not the case. I checked recount and the mage in the group was getting a serious amount of DPS only by using 2 Spells. Arcane Blast and missiles i think. This cant go on at all why on Earth they are that easy to play and end up with extreme dps is beyond me.

The mage started off from 0-15k dps in a matter of seconds, at the same time i only managed 0-4.6k... Eventually with the help of kill shot i ended up on top tho :p but still 2 freacking spells! surely that is wrong.

Posting this just to prove you don't need to be ranked 14th or whatever on some list to achieve good dps, Skill > Gear all the way. Not my personal highest on this, but its been a long time since i was in a half decent raid setup.

No, they don't need to add attuments back into the game. They never were an example of players "skills"

The only purpose they served was a stupid pointless barrier for new players to progress onto raiding content. Members were barred from entering guilds unless they had X attunement, yet it was impossible to find anyone to actually do them with, since there was sod all incentive for people already attuned to help players with them. (Catch 22) Even if you could find other players who needed it as well, they were often not at the same stage in the attunement line as you so you'd waste an hour or so helping them catch up, only for them to "brb gotta go" (The Alliance Onyxia chain was the number one example of this)

Oh and if you rolled alts, you had to do all this again and again. Fine you say, make the attunement account bound. But then new players would struggle even more.

There should be a mechanism that will not let you zone in unless you have completed the previous raids. So OS->Nax->EoE->Ulduar->ToC->ICC->Future Raid Pre Cata?

Again, no. It would make recruitment for guilds a living nightmare. You tend to naturally lose players from guilds for various reasons, so unless your the top dog guild who can poach the best players from existing guilds you are forced to take newly minted level 80's. You would tend be forced to carry those players through the lower raid instances to gear them up and then you have no guarantee that they won't be poached/leave the game/transfer server themselves. It was bad enough in the days of vanilla being constantly forced to raid MC to boost up new recruits even if you was miles ahead of it.

They had the BC raid model perfect. Save the 10 mans for loleasy raids, use the 25s for hard and important raids.

No, no they didn't. It was down right stupid for Blizzard to lock off the vast majority of the content to the "hardcore" raiders. If the majority of the playerbase was those who can afford to spend 5/6 hours a night raiding then sure, but it isn't and anyone who suggests that Blizzard shouldn't focus on the majority casual playerbase needs to find another game.

I miss the time without Achievements.

Tell me about it. As I've often ranted on this thread, achievements are a nice idea, but the wow community has totally and utterly ruined it by insisting you have X achievement or Y gearscore for even trivial content. Achievements are now pretty much WoW's version of the AA system from Everquest.

I'm glad they got rid of attunements. I never felt like they made sense. Add quests to progress story lines but don't force people to do them.

As for the complex raids, those days are long gone and I don't blame Blizzard for getting rid of them, most people didn't play them anyway and they never will because it takes far too much coordination to do them.

Some of the Attunements I liked, I use to be a hardcore raider back in Vanilla and it was a barrier, to those were "worthy" enough to be there. My didn't have any restriction on attunements, we actually attuned people when needed. I have had UBRS key, and mostly on, so i think at one point I ran I think 20 people to get attuned in one week at one point. I knew the instance very well and the steps to get the key. Along with getting people keyed to Onyxia and BWL.

Our guild provided the money to get attuned to naxx to when it first came out, as long as you were standing member.

After the TBC, I dropped from raiding only got attuned to karazhan, which I think it was worth it really.

the game is changing so I neither disagree or agree on attunements,

What they need is to Keep 10 and 25 mans that was the best thing Blizzard did in WotLK to cater for the masses. My guild does do 25 mans but not every week due to our Roster not being big so we just do 2 10 man runs. Anyways there should be some form of attunement, maybe not as extreme as the BT attunement but some attunement to stop the terribads. Have completed a previous raid is what i have in mind but im sure Blizz could think of other ways of attuning people to future raids.

Part of the reason why content is getting burned through is because there is no attunements what so every, people do not need to complete previous raids and can jump straight to end game raids pretty much. So what Blizz do is invent co*k blocks and gating systems which in my opinion is wrong.

I respectfully disagree. For one thing, 5-6 hours is obviously a hyperbole, I hope. Blizzard isn't forcing you to invest so much time into their game. That, for the most part, is blatantly obvious now with the paradigm shift to easier content, but it also stood before in the BC days. Personally, I'd love to see attunements come back, but only in an account-bound fashion. It made the endgame feel much more progressive and lore-driven. It's why I only wear Hand of A'dal on my character and nothing else.

Going back to raid difficulty, the content was a bit more trivial back in BC, and I can understand those that want those raids toned down. But it goes without saying that fire is bad and situational awareness isn't that hard. For example: Void Reaver. Big robot that shoots death balls at a certain player, and that certain player has a generous amount of time to move out of its way. Easy, right? Contrast that with a boss fight on the level of Teron Gorefiend. There's little room for error and individual competency is key but it's not that hard to mess up, nor is it hard to not mess up. That's why raids at the Sunwell level of difficulty is sort of a bad idea, and Blizzard noticed this and unfortunately made every encounter in the game post-Sunwell at a Void Reaver level of difficulty.

In my honest opinion, raids need to be a bit harder, and Blizzard has yet to strike that balance.

Came accross a few people being racist on EU Stormrage last night so I thought i would check the Stormrage forums to see if there was anything mentioned there, to my suprise someone had already beaten me to it and wrote a thread outlining what had been said. Its quite sad that we got racism in wow. My guildies are from all over europe, in my previous guild there was a lass from Japan in the guild too and we all showed respect to each other and thrived to learn about one anothers cultures.

So there were some low life uneducated pricks in trade last night just being blatantly racist then saying ohh im not racist im not just being politically correct. Absolutly shocking! Due to the diversity of cultures and races that play the game blizzard should introduce some harsh penalties for behaviour like this. It might just be that there are lots of kids off school and people just pratting about in the hols but that still should not excuse this.

In other news I saw quite a few people come online and pretend to be drunk and call everyone "Sad" and "Geeks" because they were on wow on new years. I actually did find that hillarous, again not everyone celebrates new year, not everyone goes out and drinks. Its just pathic that people come on and talk about crap like that.

Going back to raid difficulty, the content was a bit more trivial back in BC

Did you mean to say that Classic raiding was less difficult than TBC? If so, I'd agree provided we're talkign about encounter complexity and not things like managing people.

Player harassment typically results in suspensions followed by being banned. What more could you ask for?

Isn't that a case of pot-kettle-black?

I did report them and also raise a Ticket with a GM but been waiting for over 24 hours now with no reply, and i seen that they were at it again tonight. I guess Blizz gave GMs the new year off.

Hi guys, I've a problem with the QuestHelper addon and wonder if anyone knows how to fix it?

Previously, when I mouse-overed a monster in the gameworld, it would tell me if it was a quest objective....something like "Slay for <questname>", or similar text.

Now today, for some reason it's stopped doing that. I've tried numerous things to get it back:

- /qh tooltip (to disable and re-enable tooltips)

- removed Questhelper from the addons folder and re-installed using Curse Client

- moved WTF folder from root install folder, and let WoW re-generate the folder

None of these seem to have worked.

The only other addons I have installed are the Auctioneer Suite, Bagnon and Titan Panel, all are up-to-date (and weren't updated before the problem started).

Haven't used it in a while but I am wondering if the recent patch makes it conflict with Blizzards new quest tracker.

They don't respond to complaints like this - in the worst case they'll follow up to ask you what happened but they don't really need to because all chat is logged.

and i seen that they were at it again tonight. I guess Blizz gave GMs the new year off.

That's probably a reasonable assumption - cut staff back to lower levels because there are fewer players and most complaints aren't urgent.

Try searching through the comments of Questhelper, on both Curse and WoWInterface. If you can't find anything similar to your issue, bring it up to the addon author's attention. He may be able to help you with your issue.

I have a new hobby:

A couple of my friends wanted to farm trinkets from ToC (along with random heroics). They were playing tank/healer so I queued up on my alt-mage wearing the ancient level 60 5-man set. Almost without fail someone in a full set of T9 and various badge-loot pieces would call me out for having bad gear/bad gear score.

I'd then proceed to embarrass them on the damage meters (see screenshot). Most people we came across couldn't crack 4,000 damage despite several thousand more ilevels on their gear. I hope all the people that made a big deal about gear mattering in 5-man content take it to heart that there's slightly more to good damage than just the gear you're wearing.

Next time I'll fraps it. ;)

Sweeet lol, wish i had a set for my hunter or Pally so i could do the same lol

I'm a little tired of all the **** people talk to others who don't have the top tier gear. I have been working my tank Death Knight and trying to accumulate the best gear I can in the normal (non-heroic) instances and sure enough I went into Halls of Reflection and someone called me out for having bad gear. But guess what, it was the healer that called me out and he only decided to call me out after he let me die on the first encounter. We were doing perfectly fine until he decided to hide behind a pillar and didn't have LOS to heal me. Now I was tanking the boss with no healing for a good 10-15 seconds and the stupid healer blamed my gear for the fact that I died. A) Being a healer doesn't give you an automatic pass for being a dick and B) Who the hell was born with epic gear in this game? It's kind of hard to get good gear if every time you try to take a step up and get better gear you are shot down for having lower gear.

On a completely unrelated note, check out this blog about powerleveling and the dark side of paying money to shady companies. http://widgetsofwow.blogspot.com

Fraps or it never happened. lack of hit and you would be mana starved.

Fraps or it never happened. lack of hit and you would be mana starved.

For 5-man content an arcane mage is hit capped even when naked. 18k mana plus evocate, endless mana potion, and gem gives a naked arcane mage the same effective manapool that a full Tier 10 geared mage would have if they neglected using regen cooldowns. In this specific case having judgement of light and replenishment also helped.

I might be screwing with people but I'm not clueless: that's kinda the point.

    • Microsoft confirms Windows 11 26H2 to finally get one of the most requested features by Sayan Sen This past week Microsoft officially confirmed Windows 11 version 26H2 with the latest build, 26300.8697, for testing in the experimental Insider channel. The company also published more details about it mainly directed towards IT admins and system admins. Essentially version 26H2 will be delivered via an enablement package (eKB) over Windows 11 25H2. If you are wondering about some of the upcoming features in the next Windows version, one of them is certainly very interesting as Microsoft has confirmed it is finally bringing one of the most overwhelmingly requested features ever. March Rogers, the Partner Director of Design at Microsoft, recently highlighted some of the Search improvements that the company is testing, and during the interaction with users on X where he posted it, Rogers also confirmed that the company is working on disabling web search results inside Search. This is something which many users find quite annoying as Windows would often serve them links to Bing which it feels could be more helpful rather than bringing up the actual object or app the user may be searching for on their PC. Finally though the company is prioritizing local file search over the web. However the feature could not be disabled for many users as not all new features are immediately rolled out to everyone. Image via phantomofearth (X) Windows enthusiast phantomofearth who likes to dig deep into new builds uncovered the IDs you will need to enable these features. Using the following feature IDs the new Search-related features landing in Windows 11 26H2 can be used. Follow the steps below to enable the new Search experience on Windows 11 build 26300.8697: Download ViveTool from GitHub and unpack the files in a convenient and easy-to-find folder. Press Win + X and select Terminal (Admin). Switch Windows Terminal to the Command Prompt profile with the Ctrl + Shift + 2 shortcut or by clicking the arrow-down button at the top of the window. Navigate to the folder containing the ViveTool files with the CD command. For example, if you have placed ViveTool in C:\Vive, type CD C:\Vive. Type vivetool /enable /id: and press Enter. Restart your computer. If you change your mind and want to restore, repeat the steps above and replace /enable with /disable in the commands on steps 5 and 6. Delightedly and perhaps also expectedly, once you disable web search and other such bloat, the Windows 11 Search is said to get snappier as remarked by another Windows enthusiast Xeno.
