how does not owning a gun make you smart? when you touch a gun do you automatically lose 50 I.Q. points or something?

i'm not trying to be picky, but i'm just a big fan of gun education. i think if we had more gun education (not necessarily more guns, but more gun education) a lot of the fear and rumors and myths about guns could be resolved for the general public

" fear and rumors and myths about guns"..., i know how to read statistics about people who have guns in their houses, thats enough for me

I don't own a gun, I never will own a gun.

Since I don't break laws then I don't need one.

I don't know anybody in jail, anybody who's been to jail or anybody that's been arrested.

I have never had my house, my car, my parents house or my parents car ever broken in to.

The only house that I have ever heard of being burglarized was somebody who bragged at the office and their co-worker's teenage son attempted to break in.  He was arrested at the scene.

I have confidence that the cops would arrive within a few minutes of dialing 911 and I don't fear for my own personal protection nor my family's.

but there's nothing like going through a gross of clay pigeons on a summer day on the ranch. lots of fun...

just like a mouse - point and click.

for home defense you'd probably never have to fire one of these.? simply chamber a round (or no round) for maximum intimidating effect.? the sound of a shotgun is unmistakeable.

just for a bunch of crackheads that was always on my block, so i'd scare them away alot. They'd come to my house asking for my brother at tweaker hours( 4am,2am,3am) so id answer the door with my trusty trimmed friend and tell em to go away. My brother would get mad at me but wtf can he do, he was older and used to whoop my ass alot but after awhile i used to bang him up. mom would always call the cops on us, and id get tossed in the back seat for talking **** to em. but after awhile it was all good. sorry for going off topic, but taht was Cali for ya in 95-98

and what statistics are those? you kinda make it sound like everybody who has a gun in their house goes out and runs around shooting people or something....

Sure do... a few...

.22 cal rifle

15 guage Mossburg shotgun - Pistol grip

AR15 - Colt

AR15 - Bushmaster

AK47 - Bulgarian - Carbon Stalk

Killed numerous rodents by my house with the .22 rifle... It's a dirty job... but someone (me...  )'s gotta to do it...

they have a 15 gauge mossberg? didnt know that....but i guess i havent really looked into it or anything...where do you get 15 guage ammo?

my dad has a Colt AR15...it's fun. once when we took it out to the range and were having some fun, we fired it very quickly (it's semi-auto, but we were firing it really fast) and the range care-taker guy came over because he thought it was a full auto and we were firing it after the time when you were allowed to use full auto guns.....but we explained it to him and no hard feelings. it was funny

I don't own a gun (well of course not, I'm a 17 year old Brit), but I also dont inted to ever get one.

I'm ok with people having rifles on display or soemthing to use for clay pidgeon shooting, I can imagine that to be quite fun.

But if someone owns a handgun then the only use it can have is to kill someone. And by buying a handgun you're pretty much saying that if I feel threatened I am willing to kill someone.

People who say they use it for self defense...surely that means that if someone draws a knife on you, and then you draw a gun, and you shoot the guy, then it'll probably be you who ends up in prison. And if someone draws a gun on you and you draw yours, then you'd be dead.

There's also the kinda people who buy handguns, but not for self defense and are the reasons why people feel the need for a means of self defence, but they wont be on a cool site like this so no point in talkin' bout them

OK, here goes nothing, I'm trying to remember here:

Glock 20 (10mm auto pistol) (with silencer and laser mount)

Glock 45mm

Glock 33 (357)

SIG P220

SIG P245

S&W .38 Midnight Special

S&W .22 Magnum

S&W .45 Colt

S&W 9mm

There's about 10 others, mostly variants of other 9 and 12 mm pistols, I have two rifles, and two shotguns, all four are collectors items, one is a M1 Garand.

interesting points i guess....the only reason i ever learned about guns was because my dad. the only reason my dad ever got into guns was because his life was threatened. it was about 5 years or so before he ever owned anything other than a crappy handgun, but since then he has obviously branched out because it is a fun sport. still, you make good points. but i support my dad with his choice. if my life was threatened like his was, i would have done the same thing (although i guess my view is a little bit biased, but there's not really much of anything that i can do about that)

585362731[/snapback]

It's not that I've never had my life threatened. When I was single I used to go clubbing to nightclubs three or four times a week so hanging out at a downtown pizza parlour at 3am was not out of the question.

Now it might be because I'm loud, I'm obnoxious or that I was drunk but I did run into my fair share of trouble. It never seemed to happen to any of my friends.

I've had knives pulled on me on several occasions including a knife being held to my throat and waved in front of my face.

Still, I'm not about to go to a night club or a pizza parlour wearing a gun. If I did, I'd probably be dead or in jail by now. I never even carried a knife.

Yes, I have several:

Sawed off 12 Gauge

SKS Paratrooper (7.62)

M1 Carbine (.30 cal)

M-11 (9mm)

I'd hate to be the poor @#$% who broke into my house! :pinch:

Home defense is just one aspect, but mostly they're used for target practice out in the desert, it's a blast! (no pun intended) :woot:

I own two. One is a .22 caliber bolt action rifle and the other is a 410 gague single shot shotgun. They are mainly used for hunting (although I haven't been in a while) and for target practice. I keep both on a gun rack on the wall in my bedroom, and the 410 is loaded with a slug for use in case someone was to break in to our house (we do live in a city that has a high crime rate, mostly burglry). It would almost be the equivalant of a .45 caliber bullet, which should know just about anyone on their butts if they made the mistake of coming in here. I've trained my wife to use it as well, since she is often home alone at nights when I'm working.

Both of these guns were given to me by my father when I was young, the 410 is nearly 100 years old and is in nearly perfect condition (other than a few chips and knicks on the stock).

I don't own a gun, I never will own a gun.

Jesus Christmas, man up.

I have a few. Nothing military crazy outside of a British Lee Enfield 4MK2. Its chambered in a British .303.

Also a 10/22 that is the funnest gun because its not so dangerous as, well accidently shooting someone 300 yards away.

Remington 870 pump 12ga.

And some older 12ga's including an antique side by side.

Here's a pic.

From left to right: Old breakdown 12ga, Enfield, Remington 870, Topper Junior model 4-10, Ruger 10/22 LR, Winchester .22 LR, and the side by side.

I own a small pistol for protection when backpacking out in the woods. Otherwise, I love to shoot clay in large fields. I don't do much hunting though.

IMO. guns are safe if you know how to use them. When guns become dangerous most of the time is when they are in the hands of someone who is terrified of them or not taught proper gun safety....or an idiot.

I shot my friends 10ga and it about took off my shoulder, when i was 15. I'm 21 now.

    • I have a older F4-210 NAS, it is pretty basic, the CPU is not the fastest by a long way and only 1GB of ram, but it works fine. I don't understand the need for A.I in a NAS. It seems like A.i is being shoved into everything, if we like it or not. i will stick to my old Terramsater NAS, thankfully the OS is not being updated. Also, got myself a small NAs built using a Raspberry Pi 5. iy usesd less energy, so stays on all the time. As for the unit above, if it is as reliable as my old Terramaster Nas, then it will be a good unit.
    • Gemini in Google Sheets can now help you debug and fix formula errors by David Uzondu Google has started rolling out an update to Gemini in Google Sheets that allows the AI to diagnose and fix formula errors in one click, as long as your Workspace admin has Gemini for Workspace in Sheets turned on. According to Google, the new feature can handle pretty much everything from basic arithmetic to very complex calculations. This ability to debug formula errors comes about two years after Google introduced basic formula generation with Gemini in Sheets. To create a formula with Gemini in Sheets, you open a spreadsheet on your computer and click Ask Gemini in the top right corner. You can also enter an equals sign in any cell and use a shortcut like Ctrl + Alt + G on Windows and Chrome OS, or Command + Ctrl + G on macOS. Once you open the side panel, you write a natural language prompt using your sheet references. For example, you can ask Gemini to divide goals by games, or to find cell C1 in range D:G. If for some reason, the formula Gemini generated doesn't work, or maybe you wrote the formula yourself, you can troubleshoot the issue directly inside the grid. When a cell shows an error message, you hover over it and click "Fix". This action opens the side panel where Gemini analyzes the data structure and automatically applies the fixes when they are ready. You can cancel the process at any time by clicking stop in the side panel. Image via Google Google has been pushing its Gemini integration in Google Sheets for a while now, steadily moving AI features from side panels directly into user spreadsheets. Last year, the Mountain View giant shipped an =AI() Function in Sheets that allowed users to run translation and text generation directly inside cells instead of using the side panel interface. Earlier this year, the company announced that Gemini in Sheets had reached near-human expert performance, achieving a 70.48% success rate on the SpreadsheetBench dataset.
    • I get what you are saying, If i go onto the Instagram site, it says log in with Facebook, but they are not allowed to link my account with Instagram until I do that. Maybe in the U.S, they can link them, but Privacy is not a thing in the U.S. the way things are going,l won;t be any better in the U.K.

    • Exactly, this is just the beginning. I hope that by that time, our inept politicians devise something like a Universal Basic Income, because unemployment and poverty rates will skyrocket otherwise. And believe me, robots that perform physical work aren't a matter of IF, but WHEN. No career is truly safe from AI/robots, it's just a matter of time.
