man people have some outlandish and, to be quite honest, ignorant views on guns and gun laws. do the anti gun people here think stricter gun laws actually work? and i dont want to see statistics that suggest one way or the other, i want honest opinions here. statistics can be so skewed and out of context that i would rather not even have them in out discussion if possible.

a few pages back i saw someone make a remark about how silly concealed gun license are, and just FYI, in many states in the US you don't need a special license to carry a concealed handgun, or conceal rifles and shotguns in your vehicle. you can do that as long as you have a gun permit.

No. I'm against weapons. Everyone who ows one should be shot.

You don't find that hypocritical, considering the quote you have in your signature? That reason, your quote, is EXACTLY why the founding fathers of the US did not want the people to be disarmed.

I know but what can you really do nowadays with your shotgun. Only chance you would have agains any government is terrorist tactics.

its not one person with a shotgun, its the populous with shotgunS. efficiency in numbers my friend. i much prefer the Ben Franklin quote, its something to the effect of, anyone willing to trade a little freedom for a little security deserves neither, and will get neither.

essentially, you cant change human nature. if an individual is bent on killing another individual, then availabilty or limited availability of a specific type of weapon will not do anything to hinder that individual. if you take guns he will grab a knife, if you take away knives he will grab a bat, take the bats he will use his bare hands. you can kill a man with anything that weighs 4-5lbs without excessive effort. even easier with something as simple as a writing pen. all strict gun laws do is take the registered fire arms away from law abiding citizens, it sure as hell does NOT take the illegal firearms from the criminals. wtf does a criminal care about gun laws? HES A CRIMINAL! and saying strict gun laws reduced the availabilty of firearms on the street is just plain silly. even if you made guns illegal in the entire country, all it would do is make gun running more lucrative.

I will never own one since the UK government has pretty much banned ownership of every form of gun made.

But i wouldnt mind going to a gun range and trying some out.

You say that like banning guns was a bad thing?

I also wouldn't mind going to a gun range and giving it a go

This isnt really an argument thats meant for this thread, but there are a lot of legitimate reasons for owning guns, the government bans them but there is more gun crime than ever.

Id love to own my own gun, i appreciate how they work and all the design and technology that have gone into making them work how they work.

Not everyone is OOH WOOOW IT GOES BANG!!!!

How big is the UK compared to the US. Thought so....

I knew this was going go turn into an argument, i wasnt comparing the UK with other countries, i was saying the government banned guns but gun crime is higher than ever. end of story.

Compare our gun crime rates to America, or any other country where guns are legal. Thought so....

whats your point?

guns are legal in Many countries.

Just because Gun control is useless in The US of A is not a reason to ban guns. Its a reason to have better gun control. Most gun killings are committed by ilegally held fire arms. Guns dont kill people.

Idiots with guns do.

I will never own one since the UK government has pretty much banned ownership of every form of gun made.

I can understand why too: after that whole American revolution thing, the whole empire kind of started crumbling.

Guns dont kill people.

Idiots with guns do.

So the smart thing to do would be to ban idiots.

And now go and compare your overall violent crime rate since you've banned guns, and look at the US's violent crime rate since it's gotten more lax on issuing concealed weapons permits.

Hmmm...interesting trend, eh?

And I'll be willing to place money that most crimes in the US occur where gun laws are just as strict as they are in England. NYC, LA, Chicago, Washington DC, etc.

Simple google search will yield you TONS of articles, blogs, and excerpts discussing the failure of gun bans in both England and Australia, and a few politicians from both countries trying to justify it.

man, statistics can be so skewed though. we should just discuss peoples personal views and leave the numbers game out of it.

Unfortunately most people's views come from skewed statistics presented to them through sensationalist news sources.

I'd be willing to bed that more then 3/4th of people who are against firearms and refuse to budge on that have never handled one. Ignorance breeds fear.

Why should I own one? I live in Montreal, where the crime rate is, I believe quite high compared to other cities, but it's not because it's higher than the average that it's high. Crime rates are low pretty much everywhere in the world... ok, there are some exceptions... in some countries that I will not name, but I'm not an exception. Guns are for those who suffer from paranoia... you really have to do it to pay 300 bucks because you're afraid of murderers. :pinch:

So yeah, totally against guns. It's an army thing as we say.

Also, if you accidentally kill or shoot someone, you go to jail, even a murderer.. so I'm not taking this stupid risk.

    • Can you still click his nose in the about box?
    • In that case this product has no value to me. I'd rather use older Creative SB that were better in my opinion or onboard audio chip.
