religion was created for those of us who are too afraid to believe in themselves.

myself? well i'm an "i don't careist" hehe. that is i don't care how we got here and i don't care where we go when we die, all i know is that i'm not going to let anything restrict what i want to do in life whether that is another person or another god.

I applaud you

<>

My experience is not unique. There are millions of us that have had the experience. Each come to it in our own way. Some have had a sudden event that brought them to it. Others have simply been searching and found it. There is no certain set way that one comes to GOD.

I am sorry you wasted all that time studying religion, my focus is simply not on religion, but on GOD. I just happen to practice a religion that has allowed me to expand my understanding. GOD proves himself to me through my own life and through my own experiences.

I can study what it is like to be a drug addict or an alcoholic, but unless I am actually one, I'll never really know what that feels like for sure. I can read everything there is, I can study it for years, but will NEVER REALLY KNOW! So, just studying religion just don't give you the spiritual experience or awakening that makes GOD alive and real in your heart.

What amazed me was how on September 11 2001, all those folks like yourself that found their way to a church, or got on their knees, crying out to GOD. When faced with the real possibilities, people usually do turn to GOD its just within us to do so.

Frog, I very much so believe in myself.. I am a very confident person, and I am very successful in my persona, as well as social and occupational life. So that argument is bunk.

The practice of my religion does not restrict anything I do. I can do anything I so choose. However, since I have a different way of viewing things than you because of my belief in GOD, then I choose not to live as the world does. I assure you that I and my GOD are of one accord, so there is no pressure on me. I don't have to give up anything I just do, cause it is what is right for me.

God gave you free will to believe and do as you will as he has with me. I just use my free will to live for GOD.

There just simply isn't anyone that can convince me of what I know to be REAL and living in my heart. It just isn't going to happen. No more than I can change what someone else believes. All I can do is share my experiences with GOD.

if you read my post you might notice how i say i don't really believe in that sentence, hehe. don't get on my case or preach to me man.

there are a few innate problems with many religions that is the basis for why people are saying the biggest reason people believe in them is fear.

and i'm sorry but any religion that says you're going to hell if you don't follow certain rules is a religion based on fear.

i think religion is great because it teaches many people to respect others and follow certain rules that are important. i think it is great because it helps some people in times when nothing else can (one of my best friends was suicidal and religion was the only thing that saved her).

i think religion is idiotic because many people who consider themselves devout (sp?) whatever don't follow some of the basic rules of their religion. i think it is idiotic because people try to force other people to believe in their religion.

there are many more good and bad aspects to all religions but you don't need to hear them.

i don't believe in god because of a couple things:

basically the only reason most people believe in god is because they were brought up that way. most people think about an existance of a god only because that is what is around them everyday. one person said "is it so hard to believe there is a higher power" or something like that, well is it so hard to believe that there isn't? i went to christian school for 9 years of my life and for most of that time i believed in god and christianity because i did not know anything else existed, except for atheism which was pronounced as being "evil" to me in school. this is also why i don't believe in god right now, i don't like how religious teachings denounce the rest of the world as being evil because they don't believe specific things (of course this isn't all religions but this is what i was brought up around). why is it that the serial killer who accepts jesus in his heart on death row and asks for forgiveness can go to heaven and the nobel peace prize winning atheist goes to hell? how is it that a being that is supposed to love us more than we can love one another is able to bannish a soul to an eternity of torment and anguish? if you loved someone would you do that to them for something as small as not believing in a set of rules that were written by the hands of man? ehh i'm sorry for ranting a little but this is just my opinion.

everyone just needs to be accepting. god is cool if you think he/she/it/whatever is cool. if you don't, don't get on other people's case for thinking differently than you, same with those who do. i think that is the only problem with organized religion. all of them think they are right and everyone else is wrong. not a very tolerant way to think.

oh and back to the fear thing. i always thought it was funny how the basis of christian religion in the early days was "believe us or die", can anyone say crusades? hehe

actually you are completely wrong. Bin Laden believes what he is doing is in the name of Allah (which anyone who really believes in Islam knows he is a lying idiot). Hitler was Protestant I believe and his grandfather was Jewish.

if you want to generalize anything you can say that they all killed and committed sin because they believed their religion was right and wanted everyone else to believe in it.

so don't try to justify your religion but trying to put all of the idiots of the world in my group.

You come here and insult everything that I (and millions more) believe, then have the nerve to say "don't preach", and "don't get on my case"? Great.

so don't try to justify your religion but trying to put all of the idiots of the world in my group

I don't have to justify my religion to you, or any other ignorant person ...hehe. :D

you might want to stop taking my quotes out of context, or you might even want to take full quotes instead of cutting my words into segments that justify your means of insulting me. the only thing your words prove is that you are the ignorant one who needs to falsly represent someone in order to prove them wrong.

believe me, that was not a waste of time, I found some facinating things about the human mind, but thats all.

I?ve faced in my life many difficult moments and I was victorious over them without the need to "cry" to a god, all by myself, dont generaliza the athiest comparing us with some hypocrite idiots who dont know if they believe or not.

Howdy, I couldn't resist this one..... :D

After much inner conflict and strife, I have decided in my own belief system, based mainly on the Scottish Celtic Pagan religions. I also happen to believe in some of the things Christianity teaches, as well as some Zen Buddhist beliefs. Well, now that that is out of the way, let me say this:

It does not matter what you believe, as long as you believe in something. All Gods are one and all Goddesses are one. They are all aspects of one supreme being, whether that is Allah, Jehova, Buddha, God, The Green Man, The Mother Goddess, or whomever your personal God is. In other words, I believe in the same god as you, I just worship him/her/them differently and have a slightly different viewpoint. It doesn't matter what can or cannot be proven, as long as you feel in your heart that what you believe is true. Even you Athiests out there, you believe in something, you believe that there is no supreme being. If we could all remember this, then the world would be a better place.

Thanks,

Tweakfreak

Nothing I quoted was taken out of context and you full well know it.

Religious people have been insulted a number of times on this thread by the "open-minded" atheist/agnostic/satanic crowd.

The reason these threads always end up in a flame war because intentionally provocative and insulting things are thown out, waiting to get a jolt out of somebody.

Matthew 5:11

"Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me."

Buh-bye.

"Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me."

how convenient, now Im gonna to write a book with some friends and in 2000 year we?re gonna be gods:cool:: (sarcasm)

btw, that thing about the satanic crowd was directed to me, I know, I declared before, Im not satanic, I just found interesting some of their ideas, but yeah, a lot of you, religious people, put a label in the forehead with the word stanic to whose you cant undertand

Less than a week ago, Mozilla fixed crashes on Intel Raptor Lake processors with version 152.0.1. Now, Mozilla has prepared yet another set of fixes that address problems with localization, playback issues of certain MP4 files, and performance issues on website that perform various encryption operations at once. Here is the full changelog: Firefox 152.0.2 is now available for download from Mozilla's FTP. Existing installations will get the update over the next several hours. The latest version will also be available soon on the official website, the Microsoft Store, and Neowin's Software page. You can find Firefox 152.0.2 release notes in the official documentation. In case you missed it, Mozilla released Firefox 152 earlier this month. The latest feature update brought reworked settings with a more streamlined user interface, JPEG XL support, new features for Private mode, a new way to mute a tab (just type "mute" in the address bar), and many more. You can find the complete changelog here. In other Firefox news, Mozilla recently published its roadmap, where the company detailed the upcoming Nova redesign and other features it plans to implement. Mozilla wants to make the new user interface easier to navigate and more modern, with a heavy focus on its privacy tools, such as its built-in VPN. If you are curious, you can already enable the new UI as described here.

    • I wonder how many are laid off for cost savings, and this being blamed on AI to make it sound less scary and bad, for a more positive "modern, with the times" spin for investors? Because Oracle is down 14% the past year. We're looking at a company struggling here. If AI would actually be working out so well for them that they can do massive layoffs, surely this would've been reflected the past year in their stock value?
