Look, I just want to make one thing clear. Everyone who is viewing this stream and is NOT in the UK or who has NOT paid their license fee is committing a felony.

We pay ?126.50 / year to fund the BBC, as a license fee, ($240.71) as what is effectively a tax.

If you are caught without a license, you have to pay a fine of ?1000 ($1902) and make a court appearance. License fee revenues across the UK ar ?2.798 billion/b> This is the reason why the BBC can employ circa 30,000 staff, and run high-quality commerical free channels.

When you watch this stream, and you are in Canada, the US, France, Australia, etc..., you are doing the exact same as downloading an illegal mp3 or a movie from the internet, it is piracy from a news station with a royal charter.

Anyone from the US saying: ooh, I got to watch this stream, commiting the same offense as saying: ooh, I just downloaded a pirated version of xp and have just installed it. Can mods either outright ban or at least warn people who do this, and at least edit the original post/title WARN ALL NON-LICENSE FEE PAYERS THAT WATCHING THIS, FOR THEM, IS ILLEGAL./b>

Not always, it depends how long you have had a TV without a license, a friend of mine got fined about ?400 for not having a license for a few months..

Thats impossible, how are the mods to know who has a TV License or not? why not just ban talking about TV altogether.

100% True. What the BBC is doing is irresponsible, they should perhaps make it available to those who pay TV license. Not any old joe on the net.

Try going overseas at watching US tv, with its "infomercials" and all. Or perhaps you feel that piracy is justified if you download a ****ty pop mp3, as opposed to good music?

Just grow up a bit, okay? Evading the license fee is illegal. I pay it, therefore I get to watch it. If you don't pay, you shouldn't watch. If you disagree, they can come and sue you. And if you don't pay, I hope you get caught, okay?

P.S has anybody noticed that the links at the beginning of this thread are Unicast and not Multicast. if you want multicast you have to change the word 'uni' in teh link to 'multi' :D

Yes I do pay the liscence fee of ?126.50/year. No I don't think its right that others should get what I paid for, for free.

However what you have said is not relevent to what I said.

      The problem of course is simply that government does not always know best. My point is that agency is taken away from the EU consumer in these cases. I'm sorry, but I do not believe that governments (politicians) are inherently good, and "looking out for me." Primarily they look to themselves and their own personal desires first, foremost, and always. When the EU or the DOJ fines these companies, claiming to "represent the welfare of the consumer," how much of these billion-dollar judgments are handed to the consumers they claim to represent? Not even a dollar, as I've seen. Yet the EUC lawyers who are paid to sit around and dream up these suits make huge commissions on the fines the EUC adjudicates, which is an ironclad fact I hope everyone is aware of. It's also rank corruption, of course, but that's another topic. Last, when the EU inflicts these judgments, or the DOJ, take your pick, the costs are bundled right along in the cost of the goods and services these companies provide the consumers they are "looking out for." If you are someone who believes his government is his savior then you have my condolences. I think Apple is right here, because the whole scheme of consumer choice is that consumers pick and choose among the products companies offer. Microsoft Windows is more compatible with third party software and hardware than any desktop OS on Earth, which is my sole reason for choosing it. Just because the EUC forces companies do certain things it knows the companies do not want to do, "or else", has no bearing on consumer benefit. This Siri thing is almost idiotic it's so infantile. But this is what the EUC does when the EU in Brussels becomes cash-strapped and needs a big infusion of cash. Some people get upset by "big companies" but it's the opposite when governments dwarf the size and scope of these companies, which is so obvious it hurts.... I mean you can't honestly believe that forcing Apple to do things with Siri it has its own reasons to decline is something that "opens up" Apple, do you? Say it aint' so...
