Apple Mac OS X 10.4.1 for Intel hits piracy sites

This seems like fake yes. Anyone can fake an .nfo file.

It's been discussed on Slashdot and noone has seen it on either BT, IRC, or Usenet, and the latter two are usually the first stuff like this appear on.

Unless the guy the article writer was told from is some sort of "0 day l337 h4x0r" it doesn't seem like true, and even if he was, it's strange that it hasn't been seen yet.

I know several including myself see it on bt. it may or may not be authentic tho. but ill see for myself soon enough :ninja:

I still say that this is fake no matter how many people try to say otherwise.

I checked every major protocol. Usenet, edonkey, private bt trackers. It's nowhere.

Even if it wasn't faked, the thing would be too damn buggy, debugging every single crash/error, having a possible expiration date, some sort of code/signature that would keep Apple aware of their development copies that they have given to every single company to develop their software and so on.

And in the end, what do you get? To use something that will only work (when finished) on Apple hardware.

even if its fake i was able to find it and if at least 5 people can find something one can always look harder. ;)

Just saw the .nfo somewhere in the usenet.. I will just wait till its uploaded.. then test it myself.. maybe someone will prove if its fake or not before I can even download this..

edit: well from what I hear its indeed fake.. tiger-x86--blah blah. the whole files is a dummy with GNAAGNAAGNAA..:p

The 956MB torrent, it has been confirmed by multiple places is just GNAA repeated over and over if you open the RARs in Notepad. It's a fake - sorry.

I'd wait to see in two weeks when the dev boxes arrive though. I wouldn't be suprised if an entire community springs up with 3rd party drivers for everything to get Mac OS X running on any x86 box...and then the lawsuits will ensue!

Prove it. That's all I got to say. Provide a screenshot that we cannot possibly say that it was photoshopped/edited.

Only then will your argument make any sense. It's fake, the users at slashdot say its fake and probably the ppl in mac communities say the same.

There is no concrete proof out there to say that it is leaked. If it was, most probably a lot of people would be downloading it on major networks but that's not the case.

We're not blind. we are all aware of the resources around us and most of these ressources can be easily accessed.

Thats because the AMD64 distro is 64bit code, whereas the intel one is most likely 32bit, when 64Bit intel chips become more mainstream, expect to see one 64bit distro.

actually, AMD was just the 1st to hit the market with 64bit cpus, (x86 compatable anyways), so, thats why its aptly named "AMD64" but if you throw an AMD64 distro on say a xeon with EM64T, it'll work exactly the same. there is truely no diffrence when its all said and done.

I think a user who commented on the front page made a good argument. Even if this was leaked - you'll need to come up with drivers to support your hardware. UNLESS you have the same hardware configs used in the dev builds.

    • Web search has been one of those crap ware that I try to get rid of asap. It's annoying and slow. It was a cheap way for Microsoft to drive traffic to Bing.
    • All I can say is that think the USB G8 is better in many ways, and costs the same or slightly less. I wouldn't part with mine. It's even a big improvement over the G6 USB. (You can also use studio phones (up to 600 OHMs I think) with the G8, but I have to say that even relatively cheap 30-50 OHM phones sound absolutely great--far better than through most internal motherboard sound!) Considering the difference in these products I am surprised that Creative is still making the PCIe internal card versions. https://www.headphoneer.com/cr...ve-sound-blaster-g8-review/
    • I missed this when you first posted it, but those are awesome icons! I would normally prefer things to be uniform, but each of those icons seems to fit perfectly for the game! If I may ask though, what was your thought process on which icons are circular - MK makes sense - and which ones should be rectangular or square?
    • What I like about Paint is using it almost exclusively for cropping and resizing images I get elsewhere--it's quick, easy and cheap... I keep it glued to my taskbar, in fact. Also, the clipping tool comes in handy, as well (hit print scrn on the keyboard and it activates immediately.)
    • I still remember it fondly today. It was so cool to work in 64-color Half Bright mode and 4.096-color HAM mode (interlaced) when x86 was still in 4-color CGA or 16-color EGA low res. C= never realized what it had until it was far too late--the failure of C= was the failure of its top management. The C= Amiga was 20 years ahead of its time, I always thought. It didn't hurt that in only 512k of chip memory, the Amiga could preemptively multitask when Apple was still doing gray scale graphics on tiny screens and along with everyone else was doing cooperative multitasking (running more than one app at a time in resident memory, but you could only run one of them at a time--had to manually switch between them.) I had a ball with AREXX scripting running between programs that had AREXX ports so that when you sent other applications data and instructions, those running applications could process the same in real time to output! Memories...
