Any one heard the new DragonForce album? "Inhuman Rampage"

It's power metal. At first i wasn't a big fan of power metal as never really heard any power metal bands. So i thought i would "cough" download the album and what a kick ass band and album :D

I'd say this is more melo-power metal

ive just brought both Trivium albums from MSN music as i saw one of there vids on Scuzz (UK Music channel) and i must admit i like the style of music...

anyone else into Trivium?

Trivium are okay for a listen or two. Pretty typical metalcore boredom though. I used to be a huge fan of the genre, but it's getting so mainstream and formulaic now that every new metalcore band sounds the same. In fact, the only 2 bands I can really listen to without getting bored are All That Remains and Unearth. In fact, I might go give the former a spin now. :)

Fish F*ck, best song ever!

CoB will forever be one of the best metal bands ever. I was listening to Follow the Reaper at a friends house, thinking it was some gnarly band from the 80's.

Boy was i wrong..

A friend has only just got me into them ... There new album isn't half bad, and follow the reaper .. .. man sweet as

il start, well i went to metal mayhem today and i bought "In Flames - Whoracle" i reckon its one of there best albums, any one else have this album, would do you reckon of it

I so agree with you there Whoracle is a great album, check out my playlist below for lot's of metal/rock fun fun fun.

I've washed my eyes, had my sight tested and cleaned my glasses, but I swear I can still see a post saying that Trivium 'have no guitar riffs'.

Riiiiiiiiiiiight.

b0zm4g, have you already got Clayman? (If not, get it!!!) That and whoracle are their best IMO. I *LOVE* the gyroscope and dialogue with the stars. Amazing music! Saw them at download, and seeing them support motorhead soon, can't wait!

I've just got the new CoB album, absolutely love it!

In other news, I've decided after a second listen that the solo on disturbeds latest single is infact nothing special what so ever.

Oh and to make myself feel crap, if my band hadn't split up 3 months ago, we'd have supported Sikth last weekend :(

Personally, I think Clayman was the beginning of In Flames' downfall. Although "Swim" and "Another Day In Quicksand" are awesome songs from that album. Myself, I quite like Colony. That album has really grown on me, especially the title track! (Y)

Perhaps, but I still enjoy the album. The downward spiral from Clayman to Reroute to Remain was much more severe. That's alright, as there are still plenty of green pastures (or red  ) in the realm of metal. You're bound to lose a few along the way.

in case you guys hadn't seen this i thought i'd post it here. i don't think it warrants a thread of its own. however, if anyone feels that it does, please, be my guest.

Report details murder of 'Dimebag' Darrell

Associated Press

COLUMBUS, Ohio - A new police report details a chaotic scene at last December's Damageplan concert, with the tour manager getting wounded as he tried to prevent a gunman from climbing on stage - he then was helped to the side where he watched former Pantera guitarist "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott get shot in the head three times.

At the heavy metal concert, 25-year-old Nathan Gale killed four people, including Abbott, before a Columbus policeman shot and killed Gale.

Nearly 300 witness interviews, released Thursday in a 627-page report, showed people were confused about the sequence of the shootings at the Alrosa Villa nightclub.

Witnesses said Gale sneaked into the concert before opening fire with his 9mm handgun.

Christopher Paluska, Damageplan's tour manager, said he was shot first - though it was previously believed Abbott was the initial victim.

Paluska was one of three people shot who survived. Another, stage technician John Brooks, wrestled with Gale who pinned him as a hostage as police moved toward the stage.

Officer James Niggemeyer then killed Gale with one shotgun blast while he was holding Brooks hostage. Brooks told investigators although he didn't hear Niggemeyer fire at Gale, he felt Gale's grip weaken and hurried off the stage.

A grand jury cleared Niggemeyer, 31, of any wrongdoing in May. Gale still had 35 bullets left when killed, investigators said.

During the melee, Damageplan drummer Vincent Abbott hid behind amplifiers and lead singer Patrick Lachman jumped and screamed into the microphone for someone to call the police.

Gale's mother has said her son was obsessed with Pantera - was nominated for Grammys for best metal performance in 1995 for "I'm Broken" and in 2001 for "Revolution Is My Name" - and believed the band had stolen song lyrics from him.

He previously told both his mother and a former employer that he was diagnosed as a paranoid schizophrenic before he was discharged from the Marines in October 2003, two years into a four-year stint. Military records do not mention mental illness as the reason for the discharge.

IMO clayman is an awesome album, as is Reroute. Soundtrack is very different, it's really lacking guitar wise, but has it's moments (evil in the clauset is an amazingly powerful song, read the lyrics).

Personally I don't consider any of them a 'downfall of inflames'. His voice is the best in this kind of music if you ask me, there is something about it that just captivates me, and he replicates it live perfectly.

It would have been nice if the recent DVD contained more old stuff, and I want to know if they played to a dat or had a hidden KB player, but I'm still obsessed with inflames. Melody. Energy. Stompy :)

That sounds pretty bloody risky to me, it's not like you can practice good marksmanship with a shotgun!!!

    • Re: Capitalism. It's just 1 of dozens of economic models currently-adopted worldwide; most national models separate money from politics thereby limiting the influence wealth carries over the economy (due to limited tentacles wealth politics has over the broader economy). The "American model" of unfettered financial influence should NOT be the variant of pure capitalism adopted worldwide. More regulations formulated within this variant is effectively useless due to the misalignment between regulatory objectives and fundamental influence wealth politics carry over the market. Re: enough money. Without constraining the breadth/depth/scope/scale that any measure of money/wealth can have within a market, there will always inherently be those who have "enough money" and those who do not. Those without "enough money" will always lose -- regardless if a bedroom DJ, indie developer, or million-dollar corporation going against a billion-dollar mega-corporation. The evil is the absence of guardrails against the influence of wealth; not the mere existence of wealth. Re: dragged through the courts. The liberalist nature of litigation does not exclude anyone, anywhere, for any reason for getting dragged through the courts. Rather than formalize remediation pathways for various perceived ills, everything is left up to flawed interpretations... and this is where a litigation-averse community fails to thrive (thus a losing proposition when dragged to courts). Everyone should have more protections and clear remediation strategies! Going to an alternate remediation arbitration is OK so long as the case review and remediation processes are clear and transparent. For corporations, hit them where it hurts: automatic financial penalties. (PS: This is where corporate risk management strategies would do well to behave more ethically.) Overall, failure to truly shake-up the incentive core and regulatory extremities of the economic market will necessarily mean that all other actions are simply applying lipstick on a pig. Change begins from the inside. Is the root cause of the problem that a majority of consumers within a market goes for Option Brand-name versus Option Indie? Or that brand-name is spending foreign money to control domestic markets? Or that money is the objective measure for success across all walks of life? Or that deep pockets dictate the moral and ethical rights/wrongs of entire societies? Regardless of the answer (and there's nothing inherently wrong with being a socialist or communist or whatever label your surroundings deem 'cool' or 'uncool') there's a common thread: If a market truly wants to nurture domestic innovation, then performative finger-wagging will do nothing to that end.
