Divineo is now taking pre-orders for the Supercard Lite at a special price of $49.99 USD. This price is for pre-orders only. Once it is out it will be $54.99.

Edit: Just ordered mine :D

Woah nice, same price as SC MiniSD! Order one for me too thanks :p

Is that site trust worthy? Keep us updated on the official release date please, so I can decide when to sell my SC.

oh btw, does anybody know if there are any 2GB MicroSD's on the market? I can't seem to find any...

 You will have to order your own.

That site is an official re-seller for both Supercard and M3, so yes, it is very trustworthy. They are supposed to have very fast shipping too. There is no specific date so far other than "end of the month". Since several retailers have confirmed this, I think it is true unlike M3 saying it will "be out in two weeks" over and over again.

Also one great thing about this release is it's a World Wide release. Normally China gets it first, and then a few weeks to a month later it is released in the rest of the world.

As far as the 2GB MicroSD, so far MicroSD only goes up to 1GB. So that is the main disadvantage of the SC Lite over the MiniSD version at this point, but larger MicroSD sizes are sure to show up at some point.

Edit: Apparently 2GB MicroSD cards have just recently been released, but aren't widely available at this point. Try searching for Transflash, another name for MicroSD.

when it works... it's frickin great! it's awesome... but currently it's more of a pain to get it to work than anything :(

Where did you get it from? It sounds like a faulty unit. I'd get them to replace it...

JianBing, for DSorganize Homebrew Database, why is it always "No entries received" after connecting?

Not sure about that. You can ask the creator directly here.

Did u try cleaning the metal part on the card?

i tried, but not thoroughly. i'll try again and see if it gets better.

i got it from an online store in Brazil. it's definetly this SuperKey unit. cause i just tested a friend's SuperBey (bought at the same site, btw) and it works 100% of the time, whilist mine - even on his DS - is flaky.

Hmmm. Because there are fakes going arround, so it's best to buy from a reputable place. I would just return it and exchange it for a new one.

well... i cleaned the contacts and it's still giving me a hard time. i'm sending it back today :(

Anybody uses the DS Linux? What do u generally use it for?

I gave it a bit of a go, but just like the desktop Linux, it wasn't user friendly. For the DS it's command line only. No GUI at all. So you have to input commands to do everything. There is a fair ammount you can do with it though, including browsing the net (text based).

Check out thier wiki for more info.

I haven't tried it yet, but your probably can't do much if no one has some x-windows implemented and working. I would imagine that it would be a huge challenge considering it will likely need to use free space on your GBA card in order to setup some virtual memory type hierarchy.

A hobbiest toy, but I don't think you'll do anything useful with it yet.

Hi guys!

Firstly, sorry if this belongs in the Nintendo DS Homebrew super thread. I didn't want to clog up the discussion with my inane questions!

Well, I bought a DS a few weeks back, and to be frank, I couldn't be happier with it. It's a lovely little device, with really enjoyable games. In the last few years I think games have taken a turn of the worse - they used to be fun, but now they are beautiful. See where I'm coming from? The DS brings the fun back

Anyway, enough with the rambling. I want to extend my DS. I'm seriously tempted by some of the homebrew stuff such as the MSN client, and mail/rss reader. These would totally rock when I'm on the go. I'm currently looking at several cartridges etc, but I'm slightly confused about exactly what I need.

My prerequisites are:

1. Cartridge to fit snugly into my DS lite white.

2. Be easy to use, and have a good amount of space

3. I'm starting from scratch here, so need everything

I'm in the UK so getting a hold of this stuff is less than easy. Currently I'm looking at getting

http://www.winsunx.com/list.php?mod=733 and

http://www.winsunx.com/list.php?mod=720

Do I need anything else, and are these two compatible?

Many thanks for any help!

Daniel

I would be very greatfull if you guys could help me out. I've checked the first post of this thread but i have a feeling it's a bit outdated.

Thnx for any help :)

The first post isn't outdated...

But anyway, right now the closest you'll get to having a flashcart sit snug with the Lite and also have more than 512MB of space is with the EZFlash IV Lite, which is what I use. It uses MicroSD, aka TransFlash. It sticks out from the GBA slot about a millimetre, it's hardly noticeable. Only, it's in very big demand, so getting one isn't easy. You also need a NoPass card that goes into the DS slot. Currently, if you get the EZFlash, your best options are either EZPass 3, the MK4-Key or the MK4-Mini. I got my EZFlash from www.winsunx.com and my MK4-Mini from www.yangke-games.com. Picked up the MicroSD card from eBay.

Have you read through the thread? These questions are all answered in the thread and have been asked various times. I am always happy to help, but please read through the thread before asking questions. I know the thread is getting pretty long now, but there has been lots of discussion about the carts for the Lite in the last couple of pages. If you have any further questions after reading, please do feel free to ask.

I'm going to buy the necessary things to actually run homebrew apps on my brand new Nintendo DS Lite! :D

Cool. You'll love it. It really makes the DS a lot more fun. As always feel free to ask if you need help getting things set up. I by no means know how to get everything working with every configuration, but I can at the very least point you in the right direction.

I forgot to mention, the Supercard Lite will be out this Friday the 28th :D. It will be available in very limited quantities though as each retailer will only recieve 100 cards in the 1st shipment. So most of the 1st shipments will go to pre-orders. Expect pics on the 27th as that's when retailers will recieve them. I can't wait. I pre-ordered mine and expect to recieve it sometime next week. I'll post a mini-review once it arrives.

    • Close, but it is for any application starting, not just during boot time. In fact, it probably will not improve boot time at all because during a boot, the CPU is already boosting, so a pre-boost wouldn't change anything. I agree that it isn't exciting (especially considering every other OS already does it), but it is a good thing, even if they are just playing catch up.
    • Any so called performance increase will be in milliseconds, which nobody will actually notice in real world usage.
    • All it does is use the CPU more efficiently during boot to speed up boot times. That's it. Yawn....
    • It's not a one or the other kind of thing. Software should run efficiently, and the operating system should appropriately manage the CPU clocks. You could have the best most optimized software on earth, and it will still run faster if the CPU does a better job of boosting as needed. All this is doing is pre-boosting the CPU based on user actions, instead of waiting for the normal detection mechanism to kick in. If the OS knows it is about to need more CPU, why shouldn't it use that knowledge? It's the same idea of downshifting before passing someone, instead of just burying your foot into the peddle and waiting for the transmission to figure out what you want to do.
