France won they deserved it, good first half both teams.

Good luck for both teams on the finals France and Italy.

Now it's time to have 3 or four pages of "portugal lost!!111 lolerskates OMFGZ.... Ronaldo suxorz" full of uk kiddies who care more about bashing the other teams then why they suck at footbal.

Maybe you could learn some sportsmanship and accept defeat for what it is, and remenber that when saying portugal sucks you are adminting to sucking even more lol.

Very well said

Do the people saying that it was british fans booing r****do know for sure that they were british. Do you have proof or is it just an assumption on your part? Maybe they were just football fans voicing their concerns about the state of the game.

I don't know about you, but here in the US, they showed an English "clan" with English shirts on in the upper deck before the game. Also, if you looked at the right corner in the second half from where Portugal attacked, there were quite a few English flags, one which said "Southampton" on it, from what I recall. There were plenty of English supporters in today's game.

Top and bottom of it Portugal don't play the game the way it should be played.

Play acting, diving, pleading for fellow professionals to be sent off, it's just not in the spirit of the game.

As for sportsmanship, I think Scolari summed it up at the end confronting the ref. Hopefully Fifa will be looking into it and try to stamp these antics out in future tournaments.

Yeah. A minority group speaks for the whole of England. Rightttt

Well... too bad for Portugal.

Would have loved to see them advance.

Do not forget it is a small country (less than 11 million), so I feel even prouder they could reach this stage.

All my congrats to FRANCE players !! :D

Well I didn't actually see the game (long story) :( , But I think a lot of football fans would have booed anyway (english or not) if people believe in fair play.

You can have that goal, I recall winning 4-2 against the Germans.

Lets review what happened in Wembley that night, shall we?

Geoff Hurst may have scored the most dramatic World Cup goal ever, but his injury-time winner at Wembley was more important for diminishing the impact of his controversial second goal. Ten minutes into extra-time, Alan Ball crossed from the right to Hurst, who beat Schulz, controlled the ball first time and whacked it against the underside of the crossbar. The ball bounced down on the goalline and was cleared.

Referee Gottfried Dienst consulted his linesman, Tofik Bakhramov, who was a long way away from the action, but said the ball had crossed the line. To this day the debate still rages, though the multitude of action replays seem to side with the protesting Germans.

Enough said...

L3thal - I think it is very sad to see a mod laying so heavily into the English at every opportunity. By all means criticise English fans that just can't accept we were knocked out fairly (despite a few contentious issues on both sides) - they annoy me as well - but please stop these digusting attacks against the English. You are provoking the situation when your position dictates you should be trying to calm it.

I agree, they just can't accept defeat. And having stayed there just to boo Ronaldo is a good proof of that.

We didnt boo him it was your lot and how you know? you wasn't at the GAME :D

And funny how portugal loses it goes into a bash against england again yes we lost but ronaldo is a little kid. Needs to act his age.

ROFL i think it's both sides that bashes each other. I agree i did abit of bashing but only because of a certain mod. :D

What has this got to do with anything, this is exactly how you wind people up and warnings get handed out, hence my warning. Id suggest staying on topic "L3thal Neowin's Official World Cup 2006 Thread" (Thought Id do a bit of modderating due to the lack of it, going on in this topic)

One deck of fans outvoiced the portugal fan support ? If so shame on portugal fans.

Oh, believe me, I am trying to calm this down by giving out facts to the misinformed about what happened in Wembley in '66. Apparently, everyone seems to think there was no controversy in that game and that England won it fairly.

Conjointly, I also think its sad that the English fans, or at least a good part of them, are still attacking Portugal and Ronaldo almost a week after their departure of the cup.

Myself, I accept this defeat and am not making up excuses, something that we heard lots of when Portugal beat England.

I'm really glad France won anyway, I don't think a team with such poor sportsmanship deserve to go to a World Cup final. I counted 5 blatant dives in that game from Portugal (Ronaldo, Miguel, Postiga and Figo are the ones I can remember), and the referee never booked any of them for it.

Either way I'm looking forward to the final. I hoped the Germans would get that far, but now I'm not too sure who to back for the win. Probably the French!

    • Most boring game ever. Repetitive, empty, predictable, and full of cliches. Total waste of time and money, IMO.
    • Mafia: The Old Country expansion Man of Honor announced, brings back Salieri from original by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe During Summer Game Fest, 2K and Hanger 13 brought out a new Mafia: The Old Country trailer, revealing the game's first expansion. Named Man of Honor, this is slated to add two new chapters to the Enzo storyline that the game follows. There is an iconic character returning to the series with this expansion, with players set to run into Ennio Salieri, the future Don of the Salieri crime family. Fans of the original Mafia, or its Definitive Edition remake, may remember that name as one of the biggest characters in the storyline. This expansion is set prior to his rise to being the kingpin in the City of Lost Heaven. "Set in Sicily during the winter of 1905, Enzo Favara has proven himself a reliable soldier of the Torrisi crime family in the months since his initiation," says the studio about the new chapters. "Now, the Don entrusts him and Cesare with a delicate assignment of assisting Ennio Salieri, a man of honor recently released from prison and intent on reclaiming what is his." Working at Salieri's side, players will be heading into fresh environments as they return to the role of Enzo as a high-ranking soldato. The studio also promises brand-new weapons, fresh vehicles, and charms to collect in this expansion. Moreover, the expansion will add new content to the updated Free Ride mode. Alongside new collectibles and locations, this will add more challenges to beat alongside Salieri, which are described as runs that will "test the skills of even the most elite mafiosi." The Mafia: The Old Country Man of Honor story expansion will release on August 14, 2026, across PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5. It will cost $10 for owners of the base game to jump into.

    • Telltale returns with The Wolf Among Us, re-revealing the sequel and a new remaster by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Telltale Games, the studio known for its episodic games from the 2000s, had a surprise appearance at the Summer Game Fest showcase today. The studio has gone through a collapse, an acquisition, and a revival but has largely gone silent in recent years. Today's sudden announcement was for the popular The Wolf Among Us series, with news about the sequel and a remaster dropping. Set after the events of the 2013-released title, the sequel will bring back Biby Wolf for a new adventure in Fabletown. This town of fairy tale characters is becoming unstable, with Snow White not being able to keep order as before. "When a brutal series of crimes threatens to fracture the fragile balance holding Fabletown together, Bigby Wolf, sheriff of Fabletown, finds himself drawn into a dangerous conspiracy that reaches deep into the city’s criminal underworld," says the studio. "As suspicion spreads across the city and powerful forces work against him, Bigby must uncover the truth and decide what kind of sheriff - and what kind of wolf - he is willing to become." At the same time, Telltale also announced The Wolf Among Us Remastered, bringing back the classic with a fresh coat of paint. This will include all five episodes from the original game plus over an hour of extra content that will offer behind-the-scenes videos, cast interviews, image galleries, and deleted scenes. The remaster will also have updated visuals and improved UI elements and accessibility features, alongside upgrades to the animations, audio, and frame rates. Telltale has been working on this project for almost a decade now, but if the new release schedule holds, fans will be able to jump into The Wolf Among Us 2 sometime in 2027. As for The Wolf Among Us Remastered, this is slated to release during this holiday season.
