Riker gets accused of murdering someone and then blowing up the space station moments before returning to the enterprise, but it turns out the guy who made the station blew it up himself, in a roundabout way. Can't remeber what the research he was doing involved, but I don't think it matters. Also, Sulu was from the original series, not the next generation. I didnt get to go to the VIP party because i aint old enough, but oh well, it doesnt really matter. I heard as I was walking away that they were going to a casino (one of the drivers shouted "this is the casino bus") but i dunno any more than that.
