GF3 - Do employees get to ride the plane? If successful, how many launches can the plane handle in a year? Thanks

Hmmmm... well this issue is brought up a lot... As you can imagine everyone that works here is really excited for it to fly and they ALL REALLY WANT TO GO UP. Like I said we have to do about 6 months of test flights before we can do a commercial (or paid customer flight) so there have been ideas of employees, senior management, investors etc. to be going up in this time period. Nothing is in stone or decided but we have the philosophy here that if we are making the trips might as well get people involve in the company in some form a trip to space. You really don't need 6 months to test fly its is a bit over kill so a lot of flights will really serve no purpose these flights are the ones that are possible for some in house trips.

Ideally we are looking at and fully capable of doing two flights a week and this is taking into consideration maintenance and many other aspects of regular flight requirements. But we will probably keep it to 60 flights a year. You can understand why if you understand the idea of supply and demand and not over working the horse. We also will building more then one space craft.

I don't think anyones heard yet :(

As far as I know the winners have been contacted but there is no official announcement until Monday and the winners maybe under contract to not talk about it until that date.

I just recieved an email from AMD saying....

Also, check out our home page at www.amd.com and you will see a box

congratulating you. If you don't see it on the first landing, keep

refreshing until it appears.

I just thought I would let you all know, in case you were interested.

GF3, how many people did you try to contact, before you got in contact with the person that eventually won the trip?

I have no part in picking the winners. Microsoft is responsible for the selection of winners. I also have no idea how many people they tried, how many times they tried, or any info on the selection process. Sorry buddy. I can ask the Microsoft guys when they get here this weekend. If they can answer that question I will let you know. Wish I could have been involved in that it would have been really exciting and fun to do.

All we know is the information we all got from the people who have come forward and said they won on the forums. I don't know any specifics. When i say I will relay information about winners I mean pictures info and names that I can get at the Official announcement on MONDAY. Thats all i can say about that because thats all microsoft will let out. I love there secrecy its sexy. Wish I could have been involved in that it would have been really exciting and fun to do.

Oh well, that about crushes all hope.

Well, that's just for the AMD/Meta prize. As far as we know, they are supposed to have awarded the 491 other prizes, but it will be pretty darned strange if no other Neowinian wins.

Maybe they have to be quiet until an announcement is made...otherwise I am hoping that the prizes are being announced via snail-mail, which is why it is taking so freakin' long.

Congrats again Audrey, and here's to hope for the rest of us!!!

Will do! I just wonder if the regular awards are being handled the same way as yours. They were pretty fast in sending you emails and following up with the paperwork. Still, I'll keep looking for the yellow trucks. Thanks for the head's up.

What was the return address of your package and how long did it take after they contacted you by telephone before you got the package?

It came from Marden-Kane.

The package was sent overnight. Email on Tuesday, Phone call Wednesday, Paperwork on Thursday morning.

Yeah, that part was fast, but we are still waiting to see what they can fit on the chip.

With the original being a four-seater, has there been any talk of having an A380 version in the future (well maybe not that big :woot: )? Have fun on the test flights!

Hey, I got a package from DHL yesterday that I didn't bother to look at until this evening. It was notifying me that I won the "First Prize" (not the trip to space, the one where I could choose a computer), and to claim it I'd need to fill out stuff.

Pretty cools.

If I have time later today I'll post some pics.

Hopefully they are sending all notifications out by courier or snail-mail, which would explain why they are waiting until Monday to release the names. It would allow sufficient time for most winners to receive notification. Then again it could be just wishful thinking on my part, as I have not received anything...

Where did the "First Prize" DHL package come from?

Marden-Kane has their head office in New York and a regional office in Illinois. If it took from last Friday (Feb 2) to yesterday for notification to get to Jason in Illinois, then I think (hope) there is still a chance...

Using a MS standard just means Euro-Office is just a "bastardized MS Office Suite." (Wasn't a major purpose of Euro-Office was to get away from being captive and enslaved to MS's Office Suite??)

Speaking of Defender, Microsoft will now deliver EDR updates via Microsoft Update for faster security improvements independent of Patch Tuesday updates. Following the release of this month's Patch Tuesday updates, Microsoft also published new Windows 11 images available in the Media Creation Tool app. Now, you can create bootable USB media for clean Windows 11 installations with the latest releases. Some unfortunate stuff is going on with certain PCs from Dell and HP. Google has some bad news for those still using MV2-based extensions in Chromium-based browsers, particularly Chrome. The company is now removing flags responsible for Manifest V2-based extensions (uBlock Origin is one of the most popular). However, some browsers resist this change, and Opera issued a statement that it will allow users to continue using MV2 extensions for as long as possible. While Microsoft is still not ready to share new details about MV2 extensions in Microsoft Edge, the company shared important details about the way it will be updating the browser going forward. Now, Microsoft wants to update Edge every two weeks across all platforms instead of the current four-week schedule (only the Extended Stable is exempt from this change). This week, Microsoft confirmed a useful new Teams feature that is coming to the messenger soon. It also detailed all the improvements that made the platform better for users in 2026. However, not all changes are great, as the company is moving ahead with the check-in feature, which many believe will lead to employee monitoring. PowerToys received a feature update this week. Reviews are in Here is the hardware and software we reviewed this week Steven Parker reviewed a rather unorthodox device here on Neowin this week. He took for a spin the DWARF mini, the world's smallest smart telescope for night and day sky captures. It tracks objects in the sky, has a sun filter, and has a low learning curve. There is also nice build quality and a quite affordable price. Pulasthi Ariyasinghe reviewed 007 First Light. The game turned out to be a satisfying spy adventure in the James Bond universe with great gunplay and combat, impressive crowds, over-the-top action sequences, and more. There are a few quirks here and there, but overall, the game scored high on our scale. On the gaming side Learn about upcoming game releases, Xbox rumors, new hardware, software updates, freebies, deals, discounts, and more. Microsoft held the latest XBOX Games Showcase this week. The latest drop is upgrading the visuals and regional accuracy of three metropolitan regions in the American states of Illinois, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. The Flight Sim development team's 40-minute keynote at the event can be watched here. At the same time, Microsoft is bringing the 6-seat, single-engine, multi-use light civil airplane Piper M600 into the game as a part of its Expert Series 2 program.
