|OFFICIAL| Halo 3 Beta Blowout

Recommended Posts

I agree, there definitely shouldn't have been any problems. But in all fairness, it is a beta after all and nothing like this has ever been done before.

I really dont think this has anything to do with the game beeing beta. Its Microsoft Live! who has the problem.

Yeah, what bothers my is that semi-arrogant News Post over at Bungie.net, "Crackdown Delay: We Know! "

Instead of informing us what is going on, they just stay silent and expect us to go "Okay, We'll wait 6-7 hours (Y)"

Edit:

And I quote,

"Bungie have stated that they have informed the guys at Xbox live and the problem should be rectified shortly, but we've heard different. A source close to Bungie tells us they've had huge problems with the server that unlocks the client to those who have a copy of Crackdown and that it will be some time before the problem is rectified; it's been suggested that the client download may not be available until tomorrow. "

Legit?

Can we get an official response from Bungie refuting this claim?"

There's that, and the fact that they don't have to give you a BETA in the first place. But they are, and you should all just be damn happy you get it when you get it, and not ***** when it doesn't come exactly when they say.

I guess this is one plus to not being in the beta.

Right, but don't be so closed minded. Some people went out and bought (or rented) Crackdown just to play this beta. Some people woke up at really early hours in the morning just to play the beta. It's one thing for them to say that the beta will be released on a certain day (or week) and then just update everyone when it actually is out, but it's a completely different thing to have a to-the-second countdown on the front page for weeks.

Now hopefully you can see why people are upset. :)

 That's great!

of course people will be happy when it comes out, and it's true that they didn't have to give a beta. but the fact of the matter is, they did give us a beta and they did advertise it to be ready this morning. they even had a countdown on bungie.com. then you have major nelson saying stuff like

I?m making a quick run down to LA for the special (and private) Halo 3 event in Hollywood tonight. Tomorrow morning, keep an eye on Xbox.com where I?ll have complete video coveraThat is of course, if you can tear yourself away from the H3 beta that will go live early tomorrow morning (PT.) I?ll also dust off my Flickr account and post picture action where appropriate.

and

As if you you did not already know?the Halo 3 MP Beta is now avaiable for downloaded from within your specially marked copy of ?Crackdown.?

they said it would be ready, and it's not. the complaining won't do anything, but people have a right to voice their gripes about the situation.

They aren't doing this "for the fans". They are doing this to see how to enhance their netcode and get more feedback to make a better game. If anything WE are helping them, most of us for a nominal fee of purchasing Crackdown. I'm one of the people who actually saw the Beta as an enhancement, not as a feature to purchase the game. Having said that though, they have hyped the **** out of this thing and it's stupid that it is not out. Majornelson said it was out, Bungie.net said it was out and people have been playing it since Friday. It IS out, just not for the people that actually paid money, which is why people are mad.

You make it seem like no one is playing the beta, when there are already thousands playing it. If it doesn't come out until tomorrow, I would expect them to keep the Beta up an extra day. And the main question on my mind is, WHY didn't they expect this? Why is it everytime something comes out now, there are major problems?

::::this made me laugh

We're aware that some users are having difficulty downloading the Halo 3 multiplayer beta via Crackdown. Bungie Studios is working with the Xbox Live team to resolve this as quickly as possible - stay tuned. Gamers entering the beta through other means, such as the Friends and Family remain unaffected.

I am headed back to Seattle in a few hours, so I?ll be offline while I am in the air. For the most up to date information, keep an eye on Bungie.net for the latest from Frankie regarding this issue.

This site is experiencing an excessive traffic amount of traffic at this time, so sorry for the temporary nature of this message. We?re working on getting back online as soon as we can.

Hopefully its sooner rather than lat:p. :p

    • IBM are good at announcing stuff, but not at actually delivering it... How many decades ago did they announce quantum computers, and here we are in 2026, with CHINA delivering them, and IBM still talking...
    • It sounds like you’re trying to rewrite a narrative to align this layoff with your political beliefs. Games can be horrible, whatever backwards notions you have don’t change that bungie has problems, mostly with just bad games, and arrogance. When they pushed Microsoft to let them be independent they lost their way. They hired on a bunch of people and they couldn’t justify the employee count consistent with their revenue.
