Found Neowin via the almighty Google. I think I first heard of it back when people were making WinXP style icon themes for Win98. I finally registered a couple of years ago, and finally posted a few days ago when I got an e-mail about the forum restructuring. Took a while, but here I am!

Found it back in the day trying to get information on Whistler and then later keeping up to date with the latest whistler news, then after installing one of the early version and needing help signed up....and I lived happily ever after

A couple of months after I got my first computer with Windows 98 I bought the XP preview Windows XP RC1 through Microsoft.

While contributing in the Microsoft news group for RC1 or was it RC2? Someone would post neowin's url for the latest leaked build screenshots.

After a few months I finaly just joined.

Neowin used to post codes to get in to MS Beta?s on the front page back in 2002, this got me in to the Office 2003 beta and many more after that including Vista.

I realised the forums where a great place for support and stuck around ever sinc:D:D

actually, i never heard of the place until the 31 Days of the Dragon contest. i plan on sticking around, this site is a true treasure with a wealth of knowledge. i look forward to (hopefully) being able to contribute some meaningful input at some point.

    • Still hate Windows 11, I stuck it on my gaming machine again just for a nose to see what they had done, still as bad. Will restore Windows 10 back on it, suit MS anyway, they don't want me to run Windows 11 on it.
    • Ms did go with the you must sign into an account thing with Windows 8 for a while. The same sort of thing they are doing with Windows now and the MS account.
    • Hello, What sort of Microsoft Authenticator account login approval requests are you getting?  It is a generic authentication app and can be used with all sorts of services (Microsoft Account, Google Account, websites and services that support multi-factor authentication, etc.). • Windows 8? Nah. I found Window 8 worked well, get a third party start menu to get rid of the start screen, I used Start is back and windows 8 was pretty good. I used it even when Windows 10 came out as I found Windows 10 was iffy on my machine at the time was AMD FX Bulldozer based. It was only when I updated the innards to Ryzen that I had no choice but to go to Windows 10 as MS made it difficult to stay with Windows 8. ME, yes, that was not great, I liked the look of it, but it was not stable, shame really because Windows 98SE was the best of the dos based Windows.
