Is Sheldon Gay? or just not Interested?

Here?s a question that would?ve left Einstein scratching his head: Is Big Bang Theory brainiac Sheldon straight? Gay? Asexual? According to executive producer Chuck Lorre, ?other? may be the best way to describe him.

?His entire focus is on the work that he?s doing ? theoretical physics,? explains Lorre. ??Alternate reality? is another way of looking at it. Characters like Sheldon are drawn to an alternate reality that might be more comforting than the ones they live in. And why modify that? Why not let the character be that unique??

Well, for one thing, because some viewers are dying to see Sheldon in a relationship. Jim Parsons, who plays the scientist, empathizes. ?People want to see him cared for in a way that those of us a little more average have been able to experience through love,? he suggests. ?But I also [understand] Chuck?s point that all Sheldon really wants is a Nobel Prize. That?s the warm embrace that he longs for.?

Lorre says it?s unlikely questions surrounding Sheldon?s sexuality will ever be answered. ?Why would we have to [brand him ever] if the character is so thoroughly focused on his work?? he argues. ?If touching other human beings of any gender is irrelevant to him, why label the thing? Why can?t there be a third gender ? male, female and Sheldon??

For his part, Parsons is more than happy to continue playing the ambiguity of it all. ?Do I think that he?s ever going to sway one way or the other? I don?t know,? he says. ?If nothing else, it keeps open the world of possibilities.?

Geeks everywhere will be happy hear that Star Trek star Wil Wheaton will be returning to hang out with TV?s hippest nerds on The Big Bang Theory.

?We were very excited when Wil Wheaton appeared as Sheldon?s nemesis, and right now we?re looking to see if he can come back to give Sheldon an opportunity to settle the score,? Executive Producer and Co Creator Bill Prady announced to TV Guide Magazine when the Academy of Televisions Arts and Sciences hosted an Evening With the Big Bang Theory on February 18th. "Fingers crossed that we can do that, I think an arch enemy is someone who appears from time to time."

In the meantime, fans of the show will have the chance to watch Stan Lee?s cameo on the March 1st episode, as the comic book legend comes to the store to sign autographs. The Spider-Man creator was a huge hit with the cast, although Kaley Cuoco admitted that she didn?t know who he was before he came on! ?Jim (Parsons) didn?t either, he had no idea who he was,? she giggled, but Kaley was quickly enamored with Lee. ?I loved working with him, he was the cutest thing in the world. I got to have a scene with him, he was adorable and funny, this man has a lot to say.?

Parsons was equally impressed when he met him, and even thought he was similar to the show?s key characters. ?He is honestly one of the most charming people who?ve ever had on the show. He reminded me a little bit of Sheldon and a little bit of Penny, he?s got this biting thing to him, he?s just witty.?

Prady says it was really was a dream to have such a legend appear as a guest star. ?It?s one of the great things about the show because we are very geeky people ourselves, so being able to have our heroes from the worlds of science fiction and comic books come on the show is wonderful,? he explained. ?He plays himself, though I think we made him a little nerdier than he actually is.?

Now his Prady?s next goal is to persuade Leonard Nemoy to guest star, which would be every geek?s dream!

    • Well I've done a grand total of nothing, and it now clocks between 2010mhz and 1995mhz (stock is 1710mhz) and hovers around 80c, warmer than it used to, but tolerable clocks seem to have returned. Thanks for all the advice on this thread. Will review the evidence and make a choice.

    • I really wonder if this has to do with the built in VPN or "private DNS" of browsers that trip up legal requirements like cookie consent and Cloudflare (to avoid all the botnet attacks we get). And BTW some botnets still manage to get past Cloudflare, we are constantly having to tweak it to block malicious traffic that ultimately cause a DDoS.
