A-Patch for Windows Live Messenger 2012

Recommended Posts

awesome, just downloaded it, works perfectly :)

Does anyone know how to change the background colour for conversation windows? i can't change it for the main window but can't find how to do it for conversation windows. I'm using WLM 2011 btw.

Epic! But, still one problem I've noticed with all versions since they integrate with the Win7 taskbar:

using APatch breaks taskbar thumbnails. In the old one it used to break the display picture, now it breaks contact window previews... Anything I can do to fix this?

Thanks Ahmz!

The first time i used messenger after installing the latest build of a-patch, contact window previews were broken, but now they are working fine :)

Thanks guys (n gals)

It removes perfectly both ad banners but breaks a little message field:

This will be fixed in the next build.

ahmz,

Have you considered seeing if there's a way to remove the client's window from the alt-tab list so it works the way the previous version did again?

???

Awesome work ahmz!

Been using your patches since forever.

By the way anyone knows if there is an option anywhere to disable "auto sharing photos" in wlm2011?

If i paste a url containing a photo it will try to auto share it and sometimes it doesn't show the url itself, even if i paste it at people with older version of wlm.

It's really annoying i don't want to share photos all the time maybe they are nsfw!

Added 6 new options! At the moment this build is only available in English but will be available in more languages shortly, God-Willing, as soon as the new options have been translated.

Changelog (1.43 build 11)

New: Disable Nudge Shake (thanks digitaldj).

New: Remove Nudge Delay (thanks digitaldj).

New: Remove the top of the Contact List.

New: Remove Search Bar.

New: Remove the "Connected to..." bar.

New: Accept more than 3 files (transfers at a time) (thanks digitaldj).

Fix: Fixed graphical glitch when removing text ad banner in the conversation window.

Note: To remove the image ad banner in the conversation window, untick the "Show expanded footer in conversation windows" option under the Tools > Options > Messages window in the Windows Live Messenger options.

A-Patch is working great. All the new features in 1.43b11 are terrific.

However, I was disappointed to find that I'm still unable to further shrink down the ("compact view") contacts window. I thought the search bar was preventing it from being narrowed, but apparently not. With everything removed, I still can't re-size the window any smaller than 287 pixels wide by 496 pixels high.

The conversation window can't go smaller than 451 pixels wide by 478 high, but I care less about that than the contacts window, which I like to have as small and unobtrusive as possible. I also have no use for the "full view" window and social networking stuff, so wouldn't mind having that toggle removed, although again, it's not a big deal to ignore.

Thank you for your great work on this essential application. If not for A-Patch, I would have long ago ditched WLM.

beta 11 won't remove this ad, worked in beta 10 :(

Note: To remove the image ad banner in the conversation window, untick the "Show expanded footer in conversation windows" option under the Tools > Options > Messages window in the Windows Live Messenger options.

P.S. The b stands for build not beta :)

Thank you for the build 12 version. I was hoping that it would allow me to further reduce the size of the messenger main window but no joy on that yet. I do like to keep that window open (the compact view) on the desktop to keep tabs on my contacts, but the (minimum) size of WLM 2011 is still way too big. It's one of the things that may drive me back to running the prior version of WLM.

    • Linux 7.1 arrives with an NTFS overhaul and major hardware performance boosts by Paul Hill The founder of the Linux kernel has just announced the availability of Linux 7.1. This is a stable version of the kernel that will now be tested by various Linux distributions before it is shipped to users through update managers. Some users, like those on Debian, for example, might not get it for a long time, if at all, while Fedora users can expect it in the near future. With Linux 7.1 out on time, the merge window for Linux 7.2 is now open, giving contributors the opportunity to send in major new features that have been waiting for the last two months. Torvalds warned that he is currently travelling and will be in another timezone, so timing for the merge window may be irregular due to timezone differences and limited internet access. Torvalds said that he has already fetched early pull requests to allow him to do some offline work, but the travel could still cause disruption. Right now, he is not planning to extend the release, but did consider it. He said he might later regret not extending, though. In terms of this last week of development for Linux 7.1, Torvalds said there were no major or alarming changes. This week consisted mostly of smaller driver updates to GPU, networking, and sound, networking fixes, trace tooling fixes, and misc minor fixes. The shortlog this week lists fixes for driver bugs, memory leaks, I/O and USB fixes, networking and RDMA fixes, DRM/graphics fixes, and tooling and verification improvements. Specific fixes include USB series heap-overflow and buffer overflow fixes, and multiple use-after-free, memory-leak, and refcount corrections across subsystems such as i2c, zram, gpio, and net. There are fixes for graphics drivers, including amdgpu, i915, and virtio, as well as hypervisor and virtualization tweaks affecting mshv, vmbus, and hyperv. According to Phoronix, anyone running Linux 7.1 should look out for the new NTFS driver, Intel FRED for improved performance on Panther Lake and future CPUs, faster graphics with Intel Arc Battlemage, and improvements for older AMD Radeon GPUs. If you are running Linux on your computer and everything is fine, then you don’t need to worry about updating to Linux 7.1 as a priority; just wait for it to be pushed to you. If you have tried Linux on hardware but it didn’t work properly, trying again with a distro that uses Linux 7.1 could cause Linux to work on your machine, thanks to the new hardware support.
    • you can also do this with this tool: PowerSettingsExplorer made by mbk1969 at 3dguru forum.. I found it by accident researching on modern standby and annoying quirks of it in 2022
